Byrdman Has A Small Stroke

Hey Byrdman...Crazy Frazey here...

Get well soon! Hope to see you back in Blakely where you looked mighty comfortable sitting on the back seat of the TC255 test ride there with one incredible gathering and sunset.

You da' man!

John :smiled

Pat -
So sorry to hear the news. For some encouragement, I had a stroke last spring -- like you, lucky, and was able to return to 'normal' -- which folks like you and I have no trouble doing, since no one ever accused us of being normal, eh buddy? Our only suggestions -- listen to the doc and make some fundamental life style changes -- mostly regarding exercise and what you eat.

We've got you uppermost in our thoughts and prayers, Pat -- el and bill

Patrick,

Hey, buddy, sorry to hear about your stroke. Please know that Marcia and I have you in our thoughts and prayers.

Patrick-

Sorry to hear about your stroke. Fortunately it was small and hasn't affected your good wit and humor! Get well soon so you can enjoy that new boat and all your
C-Brat and other friends. Good bless and you're in our prayers! Joe and Cathy.

Thanks to all.
Each day better.
Right hand working better.
Still cry too much at nothing.
Got temp sensations on back of right hand now...and cried. :cry
Never remember crying about that.....maybe cause I had something warm in my pants...but not cold on my hand. :teeth :thup

This is better than picking up paper clips...and the cats like fewer drops now too. :cat :thup

symbols are good. :thup

Thanks for thoughts and prayers...and I have nephews coming to get me and boat today so may be on water by dark.. Great. I need a noodle fix and some sun.. :smiled

Pat,

Bill gave the best advice...i had a TIA about five years ago..came down the steps and said "where is my right arm" it was "not there" for a vew seconds...I had all the scans, neuro exams, at Johns Hopkins with a Doc who could have been my grandson. It was not even classified as a stroke but it was a wake up...I walk, i eat right, and cut back on bourbon. Dropped weight from 234 to 205..now shooting for 199. The C Dory gathering did not help...
So, Byrdman, this does not mean drinking 3.2 beer, eating a Pritikin diet, and joining a health club (though we would all pay a large ticket to see you in spandex on a treadmill!!) Just moderation.

We need you to live a long long time

Best...to you and yours.

Byrdman, a great big hug and a 60-grade sandpaper slurp from the Cat Guy. (Under these circumstances, the rule book says we manly types can temporarily suspend the macho facade.)
:male

I'm rootin' for you to work your way back to chirping full-throated byrd-isms--the one's that hold Brat pals possessed with your unique, quick-witted southern Pat-ois. Your clever, comic stuff leaves me silent, laughing and trying to keep up. We're all going to need more of that for a long time.

Bounce back at your own pace, Pat, and keep posting.

Just spoke with our TN pal, and our conversation quickly turned to midget call girls...so I'd say he's well on his way to a full recovery.

We all love ya', brother.

We will keep you in our prayers for a full recovery. I know the heat was terrible on the Chesapeake but am thankful you made it home okay. Listen to the DR. Take it easy and rest up. Looks like you have a lot of e-mails to read.

Take care,

Doug & Anne

Byrdman, Sorry to hear ya hit a bump in the road. I knew those rising gas prices would have a "trickle down effect" on a lot of us folks. Hope ya get up to speed soon. All of us are thinking good thoughts.

If it gives you any comfort, I was glued to the U.S. Open right along with you. I watched so much, that I think I can go out today and break 100. It's funny how easy they make it look.

Get well buddy.

Pat,

'Sorry to hear about that close call, Pat, but, as has been mentioned, 'probably a good warning signal... I had a minor heart problem about 10 years ago and was, at first, crushed by the reminder of how fragile life can be, but my doctor said it was just "a shot across the bow" and I was lucky to have "dodged the bullet". So, try to look at it that way and make the life style changes at least to a degree to ward off the "big one" down the line.

Thanks for all your spirited postings!

John

WOW...this is a bit overwhelming. A big heart felt THANKS to all of you. Some I have talked with on the phone...and I thank those of you who in the first few days put up with the burst of moisture.....OK....tears. :cry :thdown It is crazy cause I am not sad at all...but rather over joyfull. :thup :teeth

I got a call from another C-Brat today and got thru the entire call without any tears so things are getting much, much better.

Voice pace is back up to its pre-little-stoke pace.... with just an occational sputter or two...

Right hand worked well enough to pull two nice RED MEAT FILLETS off the grill tonight....with my right hand!!!! OK...it was the first red meat in over a week...or actually two due to me eating mostly sea food in MD during the gathering....and let me admit here prior to being C-Brat busted... I did eat 3 days in a row, sausage and gravy biscuits in Rock Hall that would knock the socks off Gandma....and may cause a little stroke... But Damn Glad I ate them now. :thup :xseek :smilep

So..OK... I dream now that peach yogart is sausage gravy.
The vanilla is sausage n biscuits.
All the water....well....you can just let your little happy C-Brat minds wonder about the wilderness what all it substitutes....and being able to hold my pee has not kicked in yet so there is my exercise regiment until my 4 week post stroke checkup with the health doc  :tea ...and maybe the physical terorist....or, maybe ...just maybe my hand will be back to normal enough I can stop picking up paper clips for an hour a day. Who invented those things anyway? As you can see...I had much rather type than pick up paper clips...but it is different....so.... I still do the clips a few times a day as told. :idea

Today is a much better day than a few days ago and I hope/pray for return back to full "normal" Byrdman is soon on the horizon. If it gets no better all I have to do is take a trip to Walmart and look about a bit and again realize how overblessed I am...and I am already doing better than I deserve....as most of us are. DaNag...you need some help with your little midget ladies...my Mother "Momma Byrd" said so.

Les Lampman is here helping me with some projects we are jointly working on and we are both having fun and sharing our love for boats and putting them together. Who knows what all we will be into by years end.?? :smiled :thup

Thanks a million for each response, email, PM, phone call, note and thought. What an extended family this forum of C-Brats truly is.

Byrdman...gone to pick up paper clips...

Byrdman – your last post put a smile on my face. Terri came in and wanted to know what I was grinning about. I told her your post. She read it and said that I should not be laughing at someone in that predicament. I told her if she knew Byrdman and knew where he was a few weeks ago, she would understand.

You are almost through the door. Don’t stop, come back to us.

I am still laughing about the "midget call girls"...this site should be mined for the humor.

I had an uncle..Uncle Glenn, who had some of Byrdman's characteristics...he could make you laught, not with jokes, but with true life stories; he was knowledgeable..about so many things; and you had the feeling, when you were around him, that he would do anything to help you out.

BYRDMAN,
glad to hear the motor skills are returning, as for the mental part of this, like me, not quite sure you were 100% to begin with!
those biscuits and gravy were the best, probably would make the trip again just to re-visit that quaint little establishment, although, i do recall a certain little waitress just about to knock the hell out of me. i'm not sure what was wrong with her, she apparently couldn't see the charm in me. maybe she was sweet on you!
have a great day!
best regards
pat

looking for an update on my friend, byrdman. hope all is going as scheduled and your getting back on track. we have many more gatherings to attend and need our mentor present and accounted for.

pat & linda

Hi All. Sorry for the delay in response and thanks again for the emails and calls.

Been a bit busy with Les on a project here in TN and simply put, I just need more rest than I use to. Sleeping about 8-10 hours a day now instead of the 5-7...so that is about 3 hours a day on average that I am not awake....or, really asleep. That mixed with things just take me a bit longer now. So, that has cut into my air time on the internet and mixing it up with my C-Brats and other boating forumn family members.

All is well, just slower.

Having to re-look at all my travel and plans. I have another boat project lined up that should start around the first of Sep. Not sure if that project will be started in Oak Harbor area, or Nashville area...still workng out some details, but it for sure will be fun and exciting.

Hope to see all of my C-Brat friends soon...and thanks again for the notes, emails, cards, and calls.

Byrdman
