Buying Parts from the Factory (Manufacturer)

I had an incident this past weekend where the 2 white plastic hinges which hold the table to the wall snapped off.

Thus I am looking for some replacement parts and wondered if anybody ever placed orders to the factory. Figured it would be easiest to get the replacement part from the factory to avoid having to make additional holes.

Is there any system in place where a person can place an order and have it mailed to you?

I'd just bite the bullet and switch over to a stainless steel part.

Why re-install a plastic one that failed?

Who'll see the extra holes? Fill them with Marine-Tex and deftly use a small brush to blend them in with the other paint/finish.

The removable table is a common feature in boats, and this hardware piece should be readily available in something durable.

Just my free two cents!

Yeah, I agree with what you said. To be truthful, the part failed due to my own stupidity and might have lasted another 14 years otherwise.

Sometimes, I just wish for the easiest solution. Like calling the factory and having something show up in the mail. :)

I figured that perhaps the part they used back then might still be in use today, or if they serviced boats, they might have some parts they could sell.

The Arima company (Washington company) is also a smaller boat company and they did have a way of obtaining replacement parts for older boats. This was a way of servicing the existing fleet and staying in touch with the community. Now that they are owned by Defiance, they are supposedly even more committed to the older boats.

Well, I guess I should start my search for another way of reattaching this table.

can you post pictures? If they are what I think they are I might have a set of stainless steel ones in the garage.

Hey Tom

I do not have a good photo because they both shattered when the table fell.

I was trying to be clever in holding the table in the all the way up position (toward the ceiling) using a bungee cord. It held for a few hours and then all of the sudden came crashing down.

Glad that nobody was sitting there when it happened. As a result, both plastic parts snapped in two. That is why I say that the part failed due to user error.

If you have the part, I would gladly take them off your hands and pay you what they are worth. Tell me what your schedule is and I will coordinate with you.

You know where I am and I would love to show you what I have done since the last time we met. I would say, lets meet at the upcoming gathering, but I would rather get this fixed before the next time out. The table is central to all our activities on the boat and it is really helpful for the kids.
