Brand new owner

Pat and Fred-

Congratulations on the the new CD-22!!!

You won't be disappointed!

After you have gotten to know the new boat, it would be very interesting to have you give us your impressions of it and how it fits your needs compared to the other boats.

They're three different boats, and they each have their own character, but how do you like the small pocket cruiser as compared to a larger one or the sailboat?

How does the boat affect your enjoyment of cruising and how much you're able to do? What else can you tell us about them and how they change your boating habits and enjoyment?

Looking forward to hearing from you! Joe.

Some may wonder why we down sized to the 22 C-Dory. The Rosborough is a wonderful boat, very well made, handeled about perfect and the fuel burn with the V-6 I/O was OK. The problem for us was the weight for towing around 9000 with the trailer and fuel.
We recently purchased a small RoadTrek motor home that will tow about 7000 pounds. The C-Dory and single axel trailer should be around 4000.
Our short sea trail with the 22 was OK the major difference in calm water was haul noise. The Honda 90 was much softer sounding than the I/O. I expect a difference in ride with the dory and a much lighter boat.
Another plus the dory is really good looking-but you all know that!!

Pat and Fred --
We are currently tied off at a slip at Cutter's Marina. Which boat in their yard is yours?? What color did you pick out? congrats to you.

We plan to do some Chesapeake cruising for a few weeks, before the Lankford Gathering. If you are at Cutters, stop over and say hi. We'll probably head out Tuesday or Wednesday.

I have been 'cutting & pasting' all of the checklist subjects and putting them in Excel. Multiple subjects such as plug, gas, keys get moved to the start of the list.

Wife Judy is out of town until tomorrow afternoon. She says I can't put the boat in without her! Maybe I'll hook it up and pick her up at Portland airport ... drop it in at Oregon City.

We're enjoying a glorious day. After several weeks of rain, the rivers are up and the grass is green. I'll post a photo of the launch.

Take it from me!! Put floats on all your keys... just look back a the Cathlamet gathering a couple years.. and see that it only took once for me to learn....

Judy gets home this afternoon. She'd kill me if I did the maiden launch without her! Tomorrow morning at Calkamette Park! Photos to follow ...

Trust you have a proper bottle of libation at hand to share sips with each other, a little for the boat, and a little for Poseidon. We'll lift a glass in your honor when we hear that all is great with the launch. Best luck --

C-Brat friends,

Our launch was a complete success. Didn't embarrass ourselves and had a fine time cruising the sunny Willamette. In fact, a bit too hot for Judy and Sharon sitting in folding chairs at the transom. Next trip we'll have the bimini up for shade. :smiled

Well that's just great!

I know what you mean about the weather. We hit 96º today way down here on the coast. The hottest spot in Oregon, I heard.

So good to hear your maiden voyage was so good. We'll see you on the big river one of these days soon, I'm sure.

I hope the "four good friends" were drinking good beer! Life is too short to drink average beer! Meet up with us at Blakely, please!

Judy asks: Are there overnight facilities at Blakely? She's not much on sleeping in the 16' V-bunks! As a newbe, I need some info on the trip. Sounds like a perfect chance to meet some of you. I took the ferry to Blakely years ago and enjoyed the trip.

Hmmm...I don't think there are overnight facilities at Blakely, just the marina and store. You should talk to the Brave Heart and Nine Inches crews, and others, about sleeping in the vee berth on a 16. I think lots of folks do it, how about it folks, who wants to chime in here?
