Bow rail for 16' Angler wanted

I notice on “Gimme Another Random C-Brat” a 16’ Angler (named Lizzie) with a stainless steel bow rail.

I too have a 16’ Angler, except without a bow rail.

I have previously inquired (last spring) about purchasing a bow rail for my 16’ but ended up with calls not returned from companies being hit hard by the recession.

Anyone have one of these available? Or know exactly how to proceed in acquiring one.

Thank you all for any assistance you can offer.

Best regards,

Ron Fisher

Ron,

I think that I have one available, shoot me an email and I will send you the price if you are interested, or are you looking for a more local builder? Let me know how I can help.

Ron,

I just got back from where I have the rails stored and unfortunately I do not have any 16' Bow rails. So, please give our rail man, Dwayne Mackey, a call at 360-739-2608. His company is called Pooderbuilt and he will be able to build you a rail and get it shipped off.

Other option would be Railmakers NW. One caveat; IMO, although I bought a stern rail from them, their service was lacking and the price was ridiculous.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for the information, I did call Dwayne Mackey, who was very helpful and accommodating.

The cost of the one piece bow rail seemed reasonable enough, however the next question is the freight.

Dwayne did mention a three piece rail that could be shipped at lesser freight cost.

Without a picture (Dwayne didn’t have one available) of the three piece version, it’s hard to make a decision which one to order.

Does anyone have a photo of this three piece version?

Regards,

Ron Fisher

Ron,

The three piece rail that "Pood" is referring to is really a simple thing, if you look at the picture of the 16' above the "Third" piece of the railing would be the very front of the railing, approximately 10" or so. We call this the bow form on larger rail setups and it allows for the port and starboard fore and aft runs to be shipped taped to each other. When the end user gets the rail all you do is put your fore and aft lengths on your boat, and then slide the U-shaped bow form into the ends. You can either rivet or machine screw in the bow form to hold it into place, and the end result is it looks like a one piece rail.

I hope that this was written clearly, and as always if you have any questions just give me a call.

Another option is a 2 piece rail with the middle open. This would allow you to step through the middle while beaching. (Just thinking out loud.)

I'd still try Pooderbuilt (PDR Marine) as suggested above. www.pooderbuilt.com. Bought a kicker bracket from him a few years back, great quality and decent price. And you wouldn't have to worry about shipping since his shop is just up the freeway north of Bellingham.

I believe they are made by Pooderbuilt, same guy as in a previous post. Dwayne Mackie. He makes brackets too, they are near Ferndale.

Edit, you beat me to it
