Okay all you bratwise out there...help me. I have a Lund aluminum fishing boat which is in the Mississippi River all summer. Zebra mussels collect on the bottom. Any experience with bottom paint for aluminum??? Thanks much, Doug P.S. boat is 30 years old so not interested in $200/gal paints.

I am a big fan of epoxy primer for any aluminum boat. We have had several we kept in semi fresh water. Today I would choose Petit's Vivid. I am using it on a glass boat and in the second season with no issues. It is rated for aluminum boats and probably is one of the cheaper--nothing in bottom paint is cheap!

Unfortunately there are no cheap bottom paints. I have used Pettit Vivid and this year I'm trying Pettit's ablative Ultima Eco (both paints are good for Aluminum).

Good luck with your research.

We have been using the Sea Hawk line of paints without copper with good results. Safe for use on Aluminum.
