sorry for asking the wrong questions, thats the only way I know [quickest]to find out info. I wasnt confrontational until "tsturm" smart? remarks and your misreading of my post, sorry for your misunderstanding

I'll take a stab at answering the original question since I have my boat listed for sale on the C-Brats site.

First, the price I have set might seem high but having bought and sold many boats over the years, it's been my experience that most buyers expect to get a break on the "advertised" price. So, I figure I'll start with appropriate wiggle room.

Second, like most of the people on this site, I have my boat set up with all of the goodies already installed. The latest electronics, the creature comforts for cruising, the necessary safety items, etc. NADA makes it hard to account for all of that along with the trailer and dual outboards when you try to ascertain price.

Third, I bought this boat because it was a C-Dory. I knew the manufacturer had changed a few times, but this boat has proven to be exactly what everyone on here loves them for and that is a safe, versatile, comfortable cruiser with a shallow draft and "go anywhere" capability.

Now I can't speak for everyone who is selling a C-Dory but I only have mine advertised here. If it sells great, if it doesn't great. My reasons for selling have nothing to do with the boat and more to do with the physical limitations my wife's MS imposes on her. I don't have to sell it but if the right buyer comes along, and this may sound silly, and I see someone who will enjoy this boat as much as I do, then we'll make a deal.

I went in search of a C-Dory 25 cruiser when I bought the Get~Aweigh and I looked all over before flying to New Jersey and buying her without ever putting her in the water before hand.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that boats to me have always had a connection more than any you might expect from a vehicle or piece of equipment. And that is why I didn't pay attention to NADA to buy or price my boat.

Should you decide you want a C-Dory, go look, try to get a ride on one, ask your questions in this forum or through private messages to any of us, and in the end, if it's right for you, find one you feel is priced right. Good luck with your search.

Steve what you might consider is the fact when you buy your c-dory it's better then $ in the bank .Wherelse can one buy something and have it worth what you paid 3yrs later ??. We actually made $ on our's .

I used to sell boats at most of the big boat shows and when we would take in trades we would go by NADA and offcource see what condition the boat was in(bayliner ,searay etc etc .) and what market we were in .nada works for the Boat Dealer not so much for the seller of used boats .Up in chicago sterndrives were worth more then down here in florida you can't give away a sterndrive boat in places like florida . but with a niche boat like the c-dory,Arima , older boston whalers customers will pay a lot more . My wife would ask me why can't we buy a 25ft cruiser (chapparrel, montery, bayliner etc ec etc .I would reply because we need an outboard style cruiser which narrows your choice down considerably .

Some other boats to consider Stamas , Arima , older whalers ,Parker , and I'm sure there are others to consider but they will not have the fuel economy or the following of the C-brats .Good Luck in your Quest
