I'll take a stab at answering the original question since I have my boat listed for sale on the C-Brats site.
First, the price I have set might seem high but having bought and sold many boats over the years, it's been my experience that most buyers expect to get a break on the "advertised" price. So, I figure I'll start with appropriate wiggle room.
Second, like most of the people on this site, I have my boat set up with all of the goodies already installed. The latest electronics, the creature comforts for cruising, the necessary safety items, etc. NADA makes it hard to account for all of that along with the trailer and dual outboards when you try to ascertain price.
Third, I bought this boat because it was a C-Dory. I knew the manufacturer had changed a few times, but this boat has proven to be exactly what everyone on here loves them for and that is a safe, versatile, comfortable cruiser with a shallow draft and "go anywhere" capability.
Now I can't speak for everyone who is selling a C-Dory but I only have mine advertised here. If it sells great, if it doesn't great. My reasons for selling have nothing to do with the boat and more to do with the physical limitations my wife's MS imposes on her. I don't have to sell it but if the right buyer comes along, and this may sound silly, and I see someone who will enjoy this boat as much as I do, then we'll make a deal.
I went in search of a C-Dory 25 cruiser when I bought the Get~Aweigh and I looked all over before flying to New Jersey and buying her without ever putting her in the water before hand.
So, I guess what I'm saying is that boats to me have always had a connection more than any you might expect from a vehicle or piece of equipment. And that is why I didn't pay attention to NADA to buy or price my boat.
Should you decide you want a C-Dory, go look, try to get a ride on one, ask your questions in this forum or through private messages to any of us, and in the end, if it's right for you, find one you feel is priced right. Good luck with your search.
