Boat Swap Completed

Two years ago I posted wondering if any C-Brats were interested in doing a boat swap. I was surprized that a forum/group as large as C-Brats had never generated any kind of sub forum or even a thread on this topic. I understood better after hearing more obstacles than genuine interest! Fortunately one open minded Brat decided it was worth giving a try.

My offer included a CD22 and use of our home and two vacation homes (beach and mountain lake cabins). We were treated to an unbelievable Florida cruising experience.

This week our new friends and wonderful Florida host are touring Oregon. They spent two nights in our home exploring Central Oregon, and tonight will spend their second night at a 1935 log cabin at Odell Lake after a side trip to Crater Lake. Then on to a beachfront cabin in Newport, OR. It was not really a boat trade as they passed on using our boat and opted for the lodging instead. They seem to be having a good time!

I remember you posting this a while back and I thought and still think it is a great. I am glad it was a success.

I would be very interested in hosting a fellow C-Brat here on the Oregon coast who could return the favor by hosting me somewhere in New England. That is an area I have always wanted to visit.

Glad to hear it worked out. I think something that might be a LOT easier to work out than a usage swap would be a "come visit here and we go out together swap". E.g. I take someone for a trip and sometime they do the same for me. I'd feel a lot better about that than lending my boat to someone and I think the legal/insurance implications are lesser also.

Exactly, the same thing I had in mind. I have always enjoyed playing tour guide and know the northwest coast very well. In my travels around the world I believe the best way to truly see a new place is to be guided by a local.

Moknots,
I remember meeting you at Tavernier in the Florida Keys at Mangrove Marina.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip East.
We met Jonathan and Rosa on the Erie Canal this summer. Great people!

A few years back I took a working ferry out of Portland maine. Casco bay if I recall. Great area. Hundreds of lobster boats out there. I would pay to work on one for a day.
