Boat Repair / Maintenance at Old C-Dory Factory in Kent?

Somebody, I forget who, told me that we could get boat maintenance / repair done at the old C-Dory factory on Pacific Highway South in Kent, and that Buck was working there (also, don't know Buck's last name). Anybody know if this is so, and if so, the name and phone number of the business? Buck was our go-to guy on the construction of our 2003 CD22 the same way Andrew (now of Ranger Tugs) was our go-to guy on the construction of our CD25. If Buck is in business, he is the guy I want working on my boat...

Well Pat, whoever told you that is correct. :) I had a couple people call me and tell me that some folks may be looking for me. I checked out the post and am flattered that you hold my work in such regard. I've been working with John Harum at Tern Boat Salvage for a couple years now, and I'd be glad to do any repair work that you folks may need. It may have been awhile, but I built C-dory's for nearly a decade so I'm confident that I still have the chops. The shop number is (253) 946-9916, and we're usually there from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. If you or any other folks would like to have any work done feel free to call and if we don't pick up please leave a message as we are usually pretty busy and it's noisy in the shop.

And on another note, I saw a 22 Cruiser along Ruston Way on the Fourth as I was checking out the Freedom Fair and pointed it out to my friends and told them that there was a very good chance I had built it. Any of you guys around here by chance?

Buck, good to see you posting here! You may not remember, but you probably saved our lives when you woke up in the middle of the night wondering if our Wallas exhaust hose had been connected to the thru-hull and called us on the weekend! It hadn't, we got it connected up, and we are still here to talk about it!

Hope you are doing well, and we will definitely be giving you a call or two or three one of these days!

Hey there Buck. Welcome - it's good to have you along. When did your decade building C-Dorys start? Mine is the last of the original CD25 Cruise Ships. Were you there when it went out the door?

Is Tern Boat Salvage affiliated with Anywherewatercraft? Are both of you in the old CD Kent building?

Enough with the questions already... Again, it's good to have you here.

Mike

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I started a year or two after your boat left, though my Dad surely had a hand in building your 25.

To clear up any confusion, Anywherewatercraft rents part of the building from us, so yes we are both in the old C-Dory facility. I like to joke that I have received some sort of gypsy curse and that I am destined to work at that property forever.

Buck, Nice to know that you are around for some of us who are not too handy at repair stuff. Sure glad there is someone out there who knows our boats.

Welcome and thanks,

Harvey

Buck,

I have the last 26' ProAngler built. It is hull no. 21 and is a 2005 model.
Any chance that you built it?? I ask because there are no factory records of any of the ProAnglers and I am searching for clues.

I am too far away to bring it to you for repairs.

Thanks,

Jack in Alaska

Honestly, folks - this is major good that Buck has turned up and can work on our C-Dorys here in the Lesser Seattle area - everybody should be so lucky!

What great news to learn that there is an experienced person in the Seattle area to work on our boats for those of us who are not handy! Thanks a ton, Pat and others, for locating him!

The dealer (in Mt. Vernon) from whom I purchased my boat did not honor the promises made as part of my purchase. In addition some errors were made in the setup, including a dangerous situation with the gas line that frayed and spewed gas while in the Gulf Islands last summer. Fortunately several wonderful, knowledgeable C-Brats made a temporary repair and one spoke directly with the sales manager insisting that the lines be replaced and set up properly. The saga continued last fall on another issue. (Warranty issues are a moot point for me, despite buying a brand new boat from a C-Dory dealer.)

Thanks again Pat;for finding someone I can have confidence in to solve occasional issues.

Too bad we live so far away from Kent.
The dealer in Milwaukie, OR dropped the ball on us so many times I've lost confidence in them.

Anne, now that you are free from warranty considerations (either by dint of time or disappearance of warrantor) you might consider having EQ work on your boat. Even though they are no longer a C-Dory dealer, they did excellent, excellent work on my Tom Cat when I did one major and one minor refit. Plus I am sure they can use your business.

I didn't have a hand in building that particular boat, but I remember it. It was built at the Monroe facility and then once finished it spent some time at the Kent plant before moving around. What clues are you looking for?

Buck,
I would like to know how the bottom and transom are constructed such as what is the core material on each.
Thickness of the bottom fiberglass.
How big is the fuel tank, only one in the boat.
Any other pertinent construction details.

Thanks,
