Once the boat is in this condition it is full of sand and water--and most likely a total loss, even if the hull is not breached. I arrived in Cabo San Lucas only a few days after the infamous "Cabo Storm of 1982"--many well found cruising boats which were going on to the South Pacific went on the beach. A few were salvaged, but many looked OK, until you dug the sand out, and found a cracked hull, on the other side. Just not worth fixing--and this type of destruction is the cheapest way of disposing of the boat....
We still have boats sunk in 2004 littering our waterways along the Gulf Coast.
