Boat ramp etiquette

Last year I watched a woman in a VW Toureg SUV towing a Bayliner "back" down the ramp in Everett on a busy Saturday...she continually jack-knifed the opposite direction...at least 25 times. Her male partner tried to help, encourage and instruct her from the safety of the ramp itself, to no avail. He finally got so frustrated, he opened the driver's door, yanked her out and backed it down himself. Why this wasn't done from the start?...who knows.

At least the guy got a go backing it down the ramp. I have never had a go because my wife says she loves doing it. Plus she's darn good at it. Perfect first time every time.

Halibut season here. Last weekend, it was over an hour wait from the hiway to the boat ramp, a distance of about 1/4 mile.

I was out there last night about midnight, just to look. There were guys there launching then.

Maybe someone with a shovel could come and help get it moving along.

The car is an older Oldsmobile Toronado. Front wheel drive and a big block V8 makes them perfect for retrieving float planes off a ramp. I don't know where that footage was shot but they use them at the float plane base here in Campbell River all the time. They actually have a few of those chopped Toronados rigged like that. Pretty ingenious!

The footage of the Tornado looks to be the floatplane terminal
close to Vancouver international airport in Richmond B.C,
