Boat form please not your political agenda

One of the main pieces of evidence is from more and more congressional districts which have become so safe for incumbents, and generally for the party who elects them. Voters like their representative and re-elect them time after time. They dislike representatives from the other party.

but politicians make the laws that us boaters must live with

I think we should give politicians a break for a while. Sure, the legislative branch makes the laws. And if you break one, the judicial branch can issue a fine or sentence you to jail. But we elect politicians and many of the judges. They are chosen by we the people. I'm going to stop haranguing them.

Who's left to blame? The politicians only make the laws, but then we hire thugs to enforce the laws. It is obviously the enforcement of the dumb laws that is the problem. Blame the executive branch! From now on when somebody gripes about politicians we should show them that the problem is really the cops. It turns out that law enforcement can also be blamed for every governmental problem.

Makes sense, right? Well, it makes as much sense as blaming politicians or judges. And it sure feels better than having to acknowledge that the blame is on we the people. Plus, (this is really the main reason) it is a lot easier to bitch about something than to come up with viable solutions and implement them in a representative democracy.

Try it yourself. "Those dumb ____________." (cops, health inspectors, sheriff's deputies, Coast Guard, etc.). It sure feels good blaming a different branch of government for a change.

Really? Somehow, I don't think you would want the cops to be choosing which laws they enforce. (I guess that might be based on that since they are all different individuals, there would be a rather large variation in what laws are getting enforced." If the laws are stupid, maybe that says something about the ones who made it. (Funny, that usually takes more than one person.)

Politicians can come and go with the election cycles. The cops, They are there because they chose to serve, and most of them are there a lot longer than the politicians.
