This morning there was a fully involved boat fire East of Gedney Island (AKA Hat Island) out of Everett, Wa.
The scanner reported a 31 foot power boat fully involved with the sole occupant free of the vessel on a dinghy. I could see the dark mushroom plume of smoke from SR 204 in Lake Stevens. Sounds like no injury and the boat apparently sunk. Numerous agencies responded and apparently a CG Helicopter was overhead.
There is a video of the boat fire available on Seattle Channel TV 4 News.
The video shows the vessel in the final stages and its' actual sinking. The write up indicates that it was West of Gedney Island.
On edit....Seattle Channel TV 7 News has a couple of videos also. One of the videos shows the Washington State Ferry Boat "Kittitas" extinguishing the fire from their vessel.
(It is a beautiful sunny day here with blue skies and the snow covered Olympics to the West and the snow covered Cascades to the East). No longer a beautiful day for the owner of the power boat.
