Naturally, having just bought a traditional “cube” power bank / solar generator, my phone, computer, and YouTube are inundating me with ads and content for them (tracking cookies etc). Well, one caught my eye and I wanted to share it here because I think it’s a really clever idea: Bluetti Fridge Power.

In short, it’s a 45 pound briefcase (it has a briefcase style handle on one of the long narrow sides) that you can use like a traditional power bank (boat, RV, truck, home) or place atop or behind your house fridge in case of a power outage. Is got 2,016 Wh of capacity and 1800W of inverter power, and you can add expansion batteries should you wish. Shipping through Kickstarter vis a vis Bluetti’s website, starting in June, still discounted for $819. I personally like the form factor for sliding under a backseat and still letting people have, well, legs, or standing on its side under say a galley cabinet or even maybe a roofline. And just having a briefcase handle leaves you with a free hand for carrying something else (or me with a 3 year old, someone else) when walking somewhere (eg boat to house). Solar and cords for solar are extra, so the price would increase if you needed those items.
My Anker came yesterday and I don’t plan to return it, since 25 pounds in cube form is more liveable to me than 45 pounds in any form, and I got mine with a Ip67 waterproof 100W panel all for $599 (is 2000W and 1024 Wh; so less overall power available, meaning more frequent charging, but can put out [nominally] more juice). Theirs is twice the power for not twice the price, so might be worth strongly considering based on my cursory skim over at the idea; I didn’t get into the nitty gritty like continuous drawdown or anything since I wasn’t going to return my lightweight cube.

No affiliation, and I did not buy. I do hope this leads to new innovations in form from these products (which are almost all built in the same factory regardless of brands, not unlike virtually every e-bike on earth).
