Blaine Harbor Public Boat Launch

We found some outside boat storage about 5 miles from the Blaine Harbor boat launch. The first year (August) we will have the F150 to launch the boat, so that will not be a problem. But the next time we will have our Winnebago View motor home. Transporting the boat to the launch 5 miles on the back of the View will not be a problem, but the question is:

Has anybody used the Blaine Harbor launch before? If so, is it an easy launch - not steep, etc? Do-able with a 24ft motorhome? Looks like a nice easy launch from the satellite, but just checking.

Thanks.

I have never used the launch but was at Blaine a week or so ago and looked it over. I think it is a little tide dependent and could be hard at low tide. My recollection is that there would be plenty of room for your rig. The people at the Blaine marina are very helpful, just call them, ,their number is: (360) 647-6176.

We have used the Blaine ramp with the F450 launching the TomCat. No problems, there is a large turn-around at the top and a lot of parking. The ramp is a little steep but the concrete goes out a long ways, so probably not a problem with a 22 and a motor home. Tide can have extremes.

Thanks for the feedback - sounds like it'll work. I feel like a kid in a candy store now that we are set to keep the boat in the northwest for a few years. We have always cruised the great lakes, so this I going to be great. Just the thought of being in the same waters as whales, the thought that we could boat to Alaska, plus the fact that the more we boat the more we can see our 20 year old in Vancouver.

We are leaving on the motor home to the east coast for a month in June, the we'll head to the northwest with the boat the end of July for a few weeks.

Can't wait!

I keep my 22' C-Dory at the Blaine Marina and use the launch all the time

Even though it is quite tidal I have never had a problem of any kind. I always launch on the south side for some reason - its a bit better I think.

The bathrooms are decent if you need them and the washout station for pulling out has great pressure. (I always bring my own hose though) Its $7.50 per launch and with that you can park for up to 5 days if you are on a trip.

There is also a small West Marine nearby in case you need anything and the Semiahmoo Marina just outside the harbour has fuel with no ethanol for $4.29/gal right now.

Hope this helps. Its one of my favourites because its not as busy as some other launches I have been to

The launch is not operated by Blaine Marine Services but by the Port of Bellingham (they have an office just up the street from the launch)
