Big oil wins another round

Proper pronunciation is "All Feel" and you can include the trash part if you want, no one will be offended.

And by the way, everyone knows that the real fart smellers in this industry came up here from Texas to show us how to do it when Oil became fashionable back in the 70's.

Hello all Ive had my cd16 about 3 mos and have been having a ball. Interesting topic as always. I dont think population is the main issue. The earth has plenty of room, it just doesnt have an infinate amount of resources. The earth can handle many, many, more people. They just cant live like US. With china and india coming up we already see the scramble for resources. Imagine if Africa and latin America all of a sudden needed as much STUFF as we do to be happy. The pie is not big enough. Were lucky to have the pie at our end of the table at this time in history.

Sure wished the population would just keep stacking up in Calif and stay away from Wyoming. Unfortunately with the oil and gas boom that's not going to happen. To many like me squeezed out from under the pile and moved here.

Would be hypocritical to complain overly much where as I work for Chevron's Coal Mining Division. Past family roots were on the poor side, so I for one appreciate everyone of those Corporations I've worked for and that have provided a wonderful life style for me and my family and that from a "United Mine Workers of America" member. So at least untill I retire in two years keep those big houses heated and drive as much as you can afford in what ever you can afford.

Seems logical to me the less the people the less the resources used. I'm just selfish enough and think most others are too, but won't admit they too would like to keep the pie at there end of the table and the lifestyles lived not opinions shared leads me to this conclusion.

Dan, Dan, Dan. With all of your knowledge and experience, one would think that you would be aware of the difference between "all natural" carbon and the kind that comes from underground. :embarrased

California prisons are beyond being overcrowded.

Surely as an ex-patriot of The Golden State you wouldn't mind California establishing a few penal colonies/prisons in the spacious state of Wyoming?

With the added population you might be able to drum up some more representation in Congress and also some more Delegates to the all-important political party nominating conventions!

I'm sure you guys are tough enough to put up with and manage the felons you'd get, as well as all their families, friends, and "associates".

Any state like yours that has drive-though liquor stores must be righteous and brotherly enough to help out a population impacted neighbor like California, the immigrant gateway to the world.

Joe.

We could use the existing infrastructure at Prudhoe Bay as a storage facility for "non-law abiding Americans" when the time comes to move oil harvesting operations further away. It would save bazillions in tear down costs and avoid having to build new prisons. And, no fences would be needed, at least in the winter. In the summer, just don't allow any bug dope to be around the place. Family would be welcome to set up households immediately outside the facility.

Joe all we need to do is legalize "recreational" drugs to solve the overcrowding problems here in CA. It should eventually raise the IQ level in the state as well. (snicker)

Dan :| I don't necessarily like participating in threads where C-Dories are not discussed. That said. There are several ways around this. One; Pay the prisoners the same wages as oil field workers but deprive them of ever being able to spend any of it, say like on a C-Dory. That would likely still be less than what it costs to house them in California. Two; Move the ANWR boundary slightly west to include Prudhoe Bay, duh. Then give the Coastal Plain Wilderness status and go ahead and let them have a C-Dory anyway. Three; Take them on a field trip there on a nice sunny summer day :hot and give them the choice of staying or going back to dreary old San Quentin via a C-Dory. Now wait, does it have to be cruel AND unusual or would cruel or unusual be ok? :crook

Where I grew up in Mendocino County Calif it pretty much is already legalized. Pot is the number one source of money in the County to keep all the service providing business's in operation. Can register it and grow it to sell for medical use or not and grow a larger crop and only worry about the Federal Folk. Use to be logging, sawmills, board plants, orchards, farming and ranching. Now overwhelmingly Pot and Wine Vineyards with locals growing the pot and folk from below the border working the vineyards. In the wonderful little valley I was raised you are very careful where you go after dark or for that matter in the daylight. The national forest that surrounds it is the same. Have to be concerned about booby traps or worse. This not population was the real reason Jo-Lee and I moved our young family away in Jan l981 even though my great great grandparents homesteaded there in the late 1850's and most of the rest of my family still lives there. Hard to beat the valleys and mountains from north of Clear Lake to the Trinity Alps and we hated to leave.

Joe---Concerning prisons and overcrowding. No pawning them off on us  , Wyoming's are so overcrowded now that Colorado has been taking our overflow. You would thing that a place like Rawlins would be almost as good a deterrent as the death penalty, but such is not the case so Prudhoe Bay probably wouldn't work either.
