best way of draining the water tank

We want to sanitize our water tank. What is the quickest way to drain it after sanitizing and rinsing?

This winter we rinsed for the first time, but the draining process took forever via trying to to set up a siphon through the faucet.

Any suggestions from you experienced C-Brats?

My boat lives on a trailer. I slide a 6 foot length of plastic tubing over the spout that fills the sink (you want a tight fit) and toss the other end out the window. Step on the foot pedal a few times and it starts a nice siphon effect and the tank empties itself. If you are in the water, you can only siphon down to the boat's water line unless you use some form of pump. However, the siphon will take a lot, if not all, of the water out of the tank and foot pumping the rest out won't be that big a deal.
 
I do the same thing. Just set up the siphon and go have an adult beverage.
 
you can buy a cheap pump at tool town or harbor freight and suck the water out of the tank thru the water level hose. or up grade to a electric pump and just run the water. thats what i did on the 27. water had been in ther for over a year so I ran the pump until it was empty and filled it witha 10% bleach mix and let it set for a few days then filled and rinsed 4 times.
 
I use the siphon hose at the sink as well. I just go away and come back in a while. To sanitize I use 1/2 teaspoon of Sodium Dichlor disolved in a glass of water and pour that into the 20 gallon tank fill with water let it sit for a day. drain it and fill it back up. I first tried the siphon out the window which worked but worked slow. I now use a small clear plastic tube which fits over the faucet and connect that short piece to a long piece of larger tubing which slides tight over the exterior of the smaller tube. I then run the larger tube through the cockpit drain hole and out of the boat. Takes much less time to drain the water tank.

I just took the sight tube and layed it out the door into the cockpit and let it run.
