What is the best type and brand Trailer for my 255 C-dory Tomcat?
I want on that is the easiest to launch and tow ect
any info would be deeply appieciated

Hi Dick,
With the exception of the rubbing of the knife edge, which appears to be an issue for all stock trailers (Bad Boy modified his for example), I've had a good experience with my Fast Load trailer.

Mine came with Kodiak brakes. I've never had any problems and it has been quite easy to load/unload the Tomcat alone with this trailer. I do like the idea of the tonque ladder (specifically for solo retrieving/launching) and will eventually add one to mine.

does anyone know which trailer from the ones mentioned in these posts or any others ..has the lowest to ground boat profile ?
The ones I seen in person like the Pacific Trailer triple axle has the boat towering way off the ground.
Also do you have to go with a triple axle to tow 10000lb+ Tomcat?

Find Brent & Dixie on Discovery and follow their lead.
A lot of time and work went into a proper set up when the TC255 was about to hit the market. Others got close, but cut some corners to "save a few dollars" or offer a less exspensive trailer. You need to get this correct.
My opinion and I think a double/triple axle set up line is in the area of 6500 pound s, which the TC255 with twin anything and boat water loaded will exceed, so go triple axle. Also, be sure to look at electric over hydraulic brakes and a weight distribution hitch. The 3 items combined with proper trailer build will for sure give you a great trailer set up.

Also, may want to touch base with THATAWAY and other owners for a little "if I did it again" talk.

Although I agree with Pat on the weight distribution hitch, and if towing in the mountains, the electric over hyraulic, two axels are easier to handle and easily rated for the Tom Cat. My trailer is rated at 13,000 lbs (as I recollect) it is all in the wheels and tires. You do need 16" wheels, and again as I recollect 8 lugs. You can go lower with 15" wheels and a tripple axel trailer.

As far as low--you are not going to get "low" with a Tom Cat trailer. Put slicks on the front 8 feet of the bunks. It will go on and off easily.

I did this last season to try to minimize the rubbing of the knife edge. I'll know how well it worked when I can lift the vessel off the trailer.
