Best place to leave our CD22 in the Northwest?

Our son just moved from Calgary to Vancouver. We would like to tow our CD22 out to that area (in-between Seattle and Vancouver) and leave it in storage for a few years while we travel back and forth in the motorhome/fly to visit our son and also cruise that area.

Any suggestions on the best place to leave the boat? My hope would be to find a marina that has some outside land storage for the boat that was not too expensive with the ability to launch the boat for us. By not too expensive, I'm hoping for something under $100/mo.

The other option is to keep the boat in a storage unit facility nearby the marina and then use the motorhome to make a short tow to the marina. The only issue with that is if we decide to fly into the area, then we'd have no way to get it towed to the marina.

We don't need anything fancy, just a safe storage area with the ability to launch the boat.

Any ideas?

Thank You for your thoughts.

My first choice would be Twin Bridges Dry stack storage in
anacortes. Followed by skyline also in Anacortes. After that I would think about Dagmars in Everett or Bayside, also in Everett.

You can also look into renting a storage shed in Anacortes that will fit the boat. There are a few of them as you come in to town.

I wonder if you will find convenient dry stack storage for under $100.

I think for around $200 you can have some good options North of Seattle.

After reading that heading, I was going to say "My place" but wait, I already have one

Good luck at finding anything for under $100. In the PNW, indoors is good storage, Dry stack is super, but it won't come for that price. In your favor, long term storage commitments will usually come with a lower monthly rate.

I did not see the $100 a month thing. if I had my extra parking lot already built you could keep it here. That will be done by the end of summer or spring. Going to cost me a few penny's unless some one will lend me a dozer for a month. I hope to create room for three to four boats or campers not counting mine.

You are looking at spending $300 or so for stack storage. I forgot about la conner, but its most likely the cheapest. its stored out side on blocks but comes with free in and out service. For some one that is only coming out part of the time its a good deal.

I have used a storage facility east of Everett, Wa in Snohomish called Lord Hill Farms. They have enclosed storage in old barn buildings that are no longer used as farm buildings. They have large parties/weddings etc on the property too and the storage is a secondary business. They have both heated and non-heated.

They are very reasonbly priced if you commit to a year at a time. In fact, they were the cheapest enclosed storage I could find anywhere up here. We stored our boat/traler for <$70/month.

The only caveats; a) you do not have free access to your boat. You call them in advance and notify them you want to retrieve the boat/trailer. They pull it out of the building and leave it in a gravel lot for you to pick up. You can do this once or 50 times. They don't care.

Thanks for all the info. I'm leaning toward finding inside storage and then towing the boat to a launch with the motor home. I like the idea of the dry storage, but don't think I need to do that based on probably only launching the boat two times a year.

Lord hill farms sounds like a good possibility - I like the $70/mo price. Right now we are looking at early August to drive the boat out with the truck and then drive home without the boat. We have an east coast month long trip planned on the motor home in June, but would love to change that to the west coast seeing that it has been 10 months since seeing our 20 year old - still working on that.

Also, La Conners would be nice if we fly into Seattle and rent a car. That would solve the launch problem. I'll have to look into that also.

I'll certainly have more questions soon -ie boat ramps for the cd22, etc

Thanks again.

On a good day it's only about 30 minutes from Lord Hill to the Everett boat ramps. I don't know the distance in miles, but down town Snohomish is just east of Everett across the Snohomish River flats and Lord Hill Farms is just east of downtown by about 10 minutes. Just to give you some idea. IIRC we were paying $760/yr for our 25, non-heated. Heated was more. And they charge by the foot. If you're only picking up and dropping off twice per yr, it'd be perfect IMO. It's secure/safe and they have someone that lives on site and no one is allowed into the barns but employees.

Lord hill farms is cheap but you will have to have your truck here. With La conner you can leave it the hard and then stay for free at the guest dock when coming and going.

After reviewing the options for dry stack storage, inside storage, and outside storage - I'm thinking now of using outside storage with a cover. In Wisconsin we keep the boat covered inside my mother-in-laws barn, but a few years outside covered should not be a problem.

After checking airfares into Seattle from Madison, I found out that Frontier Airlines is actually cheaper flying into Bellingham instead of Seattle. So, now I'm checking out the Bellingham area for storage/marinas/etc. Seems like that would work better with Vancouver being our main destination to meet up with our son.
