We just reached the peak of Angel Island on a clear night. Wow! The shimmering lights of all the north bay. Turning clockwise from the Golden Gate Bridge, shimmering off the water below, we find Mt. Tam, with all its' antennae, Sausalito, the Carquinez Bridge, all the east bay, the bay bridges, both new and old, the tall buildings of downtown San Francisco, the residential areas, spread out across the hills, and the neon of the Ghiradelli sign. San Bruno mountain is in the distance too. We hear a myriad of navigational bells and whistles, sea lions so far below, and even the train on the east shore of the bay, several miles away. One of the best night hikes I've ever been on.
