Baystar questions

The Baystar HC 4645 steering piston rod on my 2006 cd19 has some very slight rough places or discolored places. Does anyone know if the rod is stainless or chrome? Can you buff these slight rough places out with rouge. No leaks yet but my experience is that any rough you can feel will become a leak as it erodes the seal.

I tried to remove the L shaped support brackets to make sure they were greased but the 1 1/8 " nut on the starboard side would not budge. Is that nut welded to the bracket and fixed or is it just on super tight? Anyone know?

The shaft is chrome according to Baystar so rebuild is not cost effective and I have ordered a new cylinder complete.

The large 1 1/8 starboard nut on the support was on very tight. But I finally got it to break loose. Looks like it was put on with 5200. All greased up now and works good . At least I can get it off when the new cylinder comes.
