Getting the laundry list together for our new CD and one of the items is a good battery charger. We will have it on a lift with electric to the boat. In the past I used a guest battery charger but thought it might be time to look at what else was available. Has anyone used the inverter/chargers before? Is it better to have two separate systems? I am thinking shore power would be nice but the only thing I'd use it for is keeping the boat dry, ie a small heater/de humidifier. We don't plug in any electronic devises such as TVs computers etc. So it's the battery charger that is most important, I was looking at the Xantras true charge 20 amp as they look as if they have more options than my previous guest. I really like the idea of adding the battery monitor or the XC that already has one built in. Thoughts?

Just thought I would bring this back to the top. I'll post pictures here shortly of the new to us boat once we have it at home. Projects that need completed,
Wash, Polish, Wax
New stereo/speakers
Source of heat
camperback
shorepower

We will be looking forward to exploring the East Coast with all the Brats in the coming summer!!

Congratulations on your purchase. You will enjoy being a C-Brat with your new to you CD.
Good luck in your cruising.

I had EQ install a very simple shore power system that fits my needs well. I have a 15 amp on board charger inlet that leads to a single 15 amp breaker and one GFCI wall outlet (with two actual outlets). A 12 amp ProMariner (EQ's recommendation) charger plugs into one outlet, and the other is free for whatever else. Works great for me and it was much cheaper than a full blown 30 amp system.

A 300 watt inverter plugged into a 12v outlet provides AC power for computer/camera charging when away from the dock and running the engine.
