Barber chair/forward facing dinnette seat

It has been a few years since the above topic has been discussed. My 2009 26' Venture "barber seat" fell apart with ballbearings scattered about. Bad engineering design according to my son, the engineer. Any new thoughts on how to reconstruct a sliding dinnette seat without a ball-bearing element? Also, the hole for the stainless steel lock in the floor has chipped alot. How do I repair this damage?
 
I don't know much about the specifics of your chair. Some have used the heavy duty drawer slides (rated for 300 lbs) which have bearings. Another option is to slide on teflon strips. The latter seems far simpler and more practical.

Is it possible to fabricate, of modify some other piece to make the hole in the lock a stainless Steel surround? That would cover any chipped areas, and prevent future damage.
 
The new cd 22 uses Teflon or uhdh strips on the dinette floor and clips on the sliding box. I would call triton to get a set. Very simple and works.
 
We have a 23 cape cruiser same setup as 26 venture seat . My ballbearings went all over . if you flip seat over you will see 4 rubber slides /wheels . What we did was add another latch and drill hole to keep seat positioned also put a locking pin? on side to keep seat from coming up . I will try to get to boat and take pictures . When seat is used as dinette no problems just put down barrel locks I added an extra one on other side keeps seat positioned . when in the forward position then you need the barrel locks and something to hold it down thats where a locking mechanism comes in ( pictures) good luck .
