Baltimore C-dorys? Boating on Chesepeak bay, property.

One of our most memorable C-Dory events was the 2005 Great Eastern Shore CBGT, and the week of cruising C-Bay after that, courtesy of Tom Callahan, who kindly lent us his CD22 Cruiser Otter for the week. Thinking about singing along with Banjoman Tom McHugh on his Chesapeake Scenes album songs makes my eyes misty. "I want to sail the Chester River, lay back in the noonday sun, with my feet in the water and a National Bo, man that's what I call fun"! I miss both Toms for sure.

Also, if you have a dock anywhere on the Chesapeake when we do the GL in 2014, we will definitely want to stop by and say hello!
 
Anyone interested in an informal gathering. We have lots of dock space and would love to host a dinner. CD owners, Ranger owners, Cutwater are all welcome to come. Thoughts anyone?
Oh did I mention we'll be supplying fresh steamed blue crab! :smileo
 
Sounds good will have to check it out. Do you know if it has guest docks for water access?
I am thinking either memorial day weekend or the weekend prior. We would host dinner which would be Saturday, crabs, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and what not. Byob/byow. We'll have electric and water. People are more than welcome to stay on the dock as it is really calm and pretty. We'll probably plan on a water trip depending on weather to swim or up to Chestertown for shopping.

Be careful ,there about thirty boat owners waiting for this to happen again.I think we should gather at your place and go to Mike's Crab House,plenty of piers open. Your talking about alot of money for you to provide crabs.
 
Right now I have about fifty crabs sitting on my dock waiting to be steamed. That puts me at about ten peeps, plus or minus. Also I have several really giving neighbors. It's all in the fun of it. I guess though much over twenty and we'd be in trouble.... :teeth :wink
 
OK we've decided a gathering would be nice. Everyone is envied, we can either do it Labor day weekend or the next. I'll let majority rule here. Plenty of dock space, electric and water, depending on the show we might have to raft/tie up a few boats but it will be fun. We'll supply crabs, hot dogs, and hambergers, as well corn on the cob, and some sort of salad Saturday night. People are more than welcome to arrive Friday night and dock. Heck, we'll even throw in oatmeal in the morning on Saturday. Saturday a cruise would be fun, to either a swimming hold or some window shopping. So here's what we'd be looking at
Friday/Saturday morning arrival
Saturday morning depart to enjoy cruise/swimming
Saturday night dinner, socializing etc. Byob/side dish?
Sunday depart maybe a close by cruise? Depart.

OK, majority rule.
 
I forgot to mention, we are non-smokers and have a rule on our property of no smoking. Should you need you would have to walk to the street side to partake. Otherwise, lets have fun!
 
The wife reminds me that our son has sergery the week after Labor day so we'll need to put the shindig on Labor day weekend. Also those that can't arrive via boat or that would want to arrive via car for some of the gathering there will be parking on site or close by.

I have lived on the Magothy River just above the Bay Bridge for 30 years. Water depth is important, but choosing a property in a low wake zone is just as important. Narrow down your choices with a good Realtor, then pay to rent your top choice for a weekend. Watch the tide and wave action where you plan to keep your boat on a weekend when the boat traffic will be at its peak. Listen to the noise of the neighborhood. Does that lovely waterfront restaurant across the waterway have a live band that plays outside until 1AM on Fridays and Saturdays? Is the house next door a second home for a family that likes to come down on weekends and party? Does you neighbor have a duck blind license? Does someone close by operate a boat without an adequate muffler system? Do neighbors all have generators because the power system is unreliable in storms and the neighborhood is always the last to be restored because the waterfront homes are often back away from the major roadways and commercial centers that have higher priority for electrical restoration.

Waterfront living is great as long as you arrive with your eyes and ears wide open.
