Just watched a segment on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives about Big Star Diner on Bainbridge Island. Anyone been?

Homemade chorizo scramble looked awesome.

Never been there but I've been Cafe Nola for brunch. Cafe Nola was mentioned in a Giada de Laurentis [ur;=http://www.foodnetwork.com/giadas-weekend-getaways/seattle/index.html]weekend getaway episode[/url]. They've got great breakfast food. BTW - you can dock at the city park near the ferry terminal for free if you only stay a couple of hours. Nola's (and many other places) are within walking distance.

The Diner is cute, but has gone through many different ownerships..haven't tried the newest. We live on Bainbridge and I can suggest Streamliner Diner for breakfast, right on Winslow Way and for lunch or dinner, Harbor Public House on Parfitt, which is next to the marina. The city dock is a few blocks away, but still walking distance. Just ask anyone where the "Pub" is and they will direct you. Both restaurants are local favorites.

I hate to say it but Guy Fieri has featured a few spots here in San Diego and after trying his Blue Water Seafood Market and Grill, we decided to take his recommendations with a grain of salt. Yelp gives it a 4 star, but we must have been there on an off day because it was crowded and the food just wasn't that special. Point Loma Seafood definitely deserves it's 4 star here in San Diego.

I have a feeling the DD&D show producers notify the restaurants ahead of time.

It's interesting, the Big Star Diner only rates 3 stars and has few ratings. The Streamliner, OTOH, rates a 3 star as well, but it has a sprinkling of 4's and 5's. The Bainbridge Island Barbecue and the Cafe Nola seem to rate high with the locals there.

We always make it a point to have breakfast at The Streamliner when we're in the area. Once or twice when we've had a lazy weekend, we've even driven from Gig Harbor to eat there before backtracking to stroll through the Bloedel Preserve, near the Agate Pass bridge. Just remember that it's cash only. I'm so in the habit of using a credit card for everything, I've nearly been caught short!
