P-I REPORTER
The Coast Guard and Seattle Police Harbor Patrol rescued a man and a woman from a boat that was sinking near Shilshole Marina on Monday afternoon.
Coast Guard Sector Seattle responded to a mayday about the 30-foot pleasure craft around 12:15 p.m. after receiving a call from Harbor Patrol of a boat in distress 300 yards west of Shilshole Bay.
The Coast Guard dispatched a 41-foot utility boat from Pier 36. Meanwhile, a Coast Guard marine safety and security team was the first to arrive after diverting their 25-foot small response boat. The team rescued the two people on board and transferred them to a Seattle Police Harbor Patrol vessel.
The boat was not fully submerged, and the Harbor Patrol unit was assessing salvage efforts, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
The type of boat was not immediately available. The cause of the mishap and the extent of environmental damage were being investigated.
p.s. - I'm guessing its a 60's, 70's era Tollycraft .
