Anybody Have an Origo Flush Mount Alcohol Stove for Sale?

If anybody has an Origo alcohol stove sitting in their garage from when they "upgraded" to a Wallas, and would like to maybe get a few bucks for it, please PM me!

I've got one, 2 burner, Pulled it out of the 22 I am restoring,

Has some minor corrosion on the control knobs. but does not look like it has ever been used.

Just make a small donation to the C Brats site and it is yours.

Don't know if you remember us. We were in the small houseboat at the Powell gathering last year. Will be in a 22 Cruiser this year.

Will be happy to bring it along from Texas to Powell via Guttenberg

I do indeed remember you and your little houseboat, and I think you made the ceviche? We'll take you up on that offer, thanks!

The Wallas has just crapped out on us one too many times. I put a new little 2A fuse in, and it ran in our driveway, seemed to run fine. Then it crapped out on us again. Scan Marine thinks it is probably some fan that went bad and is drawing too much current. We are pulling it and getting a quote for repair, but I am pretty much through with this complex, over-engineered stove/heater. I don't want something prone to crapping out on us when we are on the Inside Passage or on the Great Loop.

I want something simpler and more reliable. The Origo stove seems to be half of the equation, and yes, I have read the negatives as well. The heater for now might just be the Mr. Buddy Heater, but damn, that Espar Airtronic D2 sure looks good. I don't really know if it is less complicated or more reliable, so I hope somebody who has one will be able to respond with some info on that. I will check with Karl on C-Daisy, apparently he installed an Espar.

Pulling the Wallas and going seperate heat & stove?

Sorry for your troubles Pat... We use our Wallas once or twice a year and have never had a problem with it. I think it's just the luck of the draw... Many have had problems and many have had none at all.

Good luck with the replacement, wish I were close enough to help..

Pat, we don't have a wallas stove, but do love our Origo alcohol stove.
Its a completely simple no mess, no fuss always works piece of equipment.
On the loop as we are doing it we have always been able to buy alcohol at a hardware store or the paint section at Walmart.

It is a little smelly, and I know people worry about the moisture but since the first thing we are doing with it is boiling water for coffee in the morning the moisture part is really not a concern.

pat I just installed a d2 in our 27. I bought it online for $750 and installed my self. We love it. fires right up in a minute and really heats the whole cabin including the v-berth. Love the thermostat control. just set it and the heat comes on when it gets to cold.

There are a few items you will have to buy, depending on your install, that are not in the kit. this was at the limit of my comfort level for install but now that I have done it I learned a lot and would do it again. most of my trouble was with making the mounting bracket. the install of the unit its self was fairly straight forward. give me a call and we can talk about it.

I love the heat. its a nice dry hot heat that really drys up the cabin. it shuts down quickly too. yesterday Susan dried out a pair of shorts in front of them in 10 minutes. i would never go back to a wallas.

I had a Wallas and replaced it with an Origo, for the same reason. The Wallas is the greatest thing since sliced bread, as long as it works, but when it doesn't it's a real pain in the posterior. And it always seemed to die on the coldest morning of the year, or when I had steaks in the frying pan. BTW, when mine starting blowing 2 amp fuses, the distributor in Seattle told me to put in a bigger fuse! My Origo may add a little moisture to the cabin, and there's occasionally a small whiff of alcohol in the air, but it has two moving parts, and if it ever breaks I'm confident I can fix it.

Unusual, I've got a Wallas, not an Origo, and quite frequently I can smell alcohol in the air! :disgust

I suppose it might be something else... Bet Pat's got it too, even though he hasn't installed his Origo yet! :thup

I think the heater Karl mounted in the C- Daisey is an Espar. He showed it to me at the FHGT. He did a top notch job on the install, and it sure can pump out the heat.
