Any body using their new G Mail phone?

A skype like phone/video chat service embedded in G Mail . It came on line this A.M. Works pretty darn good . Free to Canada and US at least till the end of the year . I use my little netbook as a phone now too !

I've got a couple of Google Voice numbers I use on a regular basis. I will probably give this enhancement a try - can't beat the price. If I could port my landline number it would be a real $$$ savings and be more compelling.

That said, I do have some concerns with the amount of info google is collecting about me from searches, gmail, and google voice. I read they keep the search queries FOREVER! :smileo

Last week Eric Schmidt, the Google CEO, stated the only way to get a clean slate with Google, Facebook, etc is to change your name! :smiled
 
one downside of the gmail phone app is that caller ID displays a google telephone number in California. For those of us who screen their calls, that's a problem.

Plus if you try calling back the missed call, you get a message from google saying you can't leave a message.

I just made one call this am after it came on line...and it worked great. I am sure I will use it a great deal when I have a fast connection.
