Another New C-Dory Owner

Hi All,

Less than a month ago, I joined the C-brat site, so that I could get some basic information about C-Dory's and join the throngs of "wish I had one." I figured it would be several years before I got there, but of course once I got my husband to actually look at the C-Dories and we got to talking seriously about it, it was like a rushing train--we couldn't stop it!

So, it probably qualifies as the 2nd craziest (dumbest?) thing we've ever done, but a couple of days ago, I put a deposit on a 2007 22' Angler with Sportcraft Marine in Oregon (they had one)!! It's the open back version, which is just perfect for us, as 95% of it's usage will be for fishing, and I wanted to make sure that the driver (Rick) can get to me fast with the net when I hook into those silver salmon in Valdez! Actually, I might have to drive the boat myself on occasion so he can take his turn at fishing....

We are getting twin Honda 50's and Tim at Sportcraft will be getting it to Seattle and on a barge to Alaska as soon as it is rigged and we have the financing figured out. Yep, the only way we could do this was to get it on the never-never plan.

So thanks to everyone who encouraged me when I first posted on the form and expect to get a lot more "newbie" questions from me once I actually have the boat. And photos when my album gets set up, and I actually pull that first salmon on board. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Congratulations Pat! Great name by the way. You won't regret your decision one bit once you get the boat. Caryn and I felt the same way when we purchased out boat at the 2005 Seattle Boat Show. We walked in a daze for a couple of hours, hardly believing what we just did. Well two years later, we've had zero regrets, just a lot of great memories.

Welcome to the club!

Congratulations on your new boat! By “open back version” do you mean that the cabin has no bulkhead? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a 22 without an enclosed cabin.

Best of luck with your new boat and I’m looking forward to seeing some pictures of the boat and your adventures.

BTW, cute name. :)

Yep, open back is no bulkhead. The boat is set up just like the 19' Angler, but has the bigger deck which will be great for fishing and friends.

The "Air" in the name came from the fact that the other way we love to burn $100 bills when we have nothing better to do, is flying small airplanes. Rick's love is floatplanes, which are a great way to access the outdoors in mostly roadless Alaska.

Thanks for all the encouragement! And photos will be on the way as soon as I can.
