Well we are getting three more days of shrimp in area 7 and 9 but not 8. Here's the release.

Recreational spot shrimp fishing season reopening for additional days in marine areas 7 and 9

Action: Recreational spot shrimp fishing will reopen for additional days in marine areas 7 and 9.

Effective dates: Wednesday, June 22, 2011 - Marine Area 7 is open, and Marine Area 9 is open from 7: 00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25, 2011 - Marine Area 7 south is open (the north/central portion of Marine Area 7 will remain closed on these days).

Species affected: Spot shrimp.

Location: Marine areas 7 and 9. Please note that on Friday and Saturday, June 24 and 25, only the southern portion of Marine Area 7 is open. This is the portion of Marine Area 7 south of a line from the Initiative 77 marker on Fidalgo Island (which is the eastern boundary between marine areas 6 and 7) to Point Colville on Lopez Island, then south of a line from Davis Point on Lopez Island to Cattle Point on San Juan Island, then south of a line due west from Lime Kiln Point light on San Juan Island to the international boundary. This area includes the Iceberg Point, Salmon Bank and McArthur Bank shrimp fishing grounds.

Reason for action: Sufficient recreational spot shrimp quota remains in these areas for more days of fishing.

Other information: The Hood Canal Shrimp District will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.

Contact: Mark O?Toole, La Conner, (360) 466-4345 ext. 241.

I made the run today to Iceberg with Don on My heaven. Dropped 4 pots for 1 hour and ended up with 3 limits. sent one limit over the side to get bigger and came home. It started blowing about 9 and when we left it was a good 4 to 6ft swell with a little wind chop on top. Nothing to big. Don kept asking "is it ok to be here?" my answer was "as long as the pots are down it is, mintue thier up we run for home."

All in all a nice day.

Hi Tom
We were out at Biz Point yesterday. we had to make a second pull to fill out our 3 limits but was a good day shrimping. they were nice sized.
we had to run a slalom course through the Indians crab pot bouys in Skagit Bay going out and coming home tho. I thought that we, the sportsmen, were supposed to get to go first this year. saw one pulling their pots when we were coming back and the pot was about half full of crab.

we are going out on Friday to try again. looks to be a tide at about 13:40 hrs. we like to drop about a hour before high slack.

Spent the day @ Browns Bay. We pulled...and pulled...and pulled. All for 134 shrimp, many of which were tiny. According to the counter at the docks in Everett, shrimping in area 9 was crap. Some boats came in w/ 0 shrimp and she said Browns was the only area "producing". :?
