What a bummer.....but glad to hear that the prognosis is good. Make sure you keep your taste buds sharp....I'd sure hate to learn that someone has tried to slip a Schlitz in front of you instead of Snoqualamie Falls Best Brew.

Hey pat, just saw this post. You have to take care of your self better we need you around here for advice and free beer. Will we see you in bellingham? I think patty needs to short leach on you until you are completely healed. Oh one more thing as your eye doc if he is the fishing physician? if he is he know more about salmon then most people.
 
Man, after reading Patti's initial message, I'm really relieved. And not just because Pat's such a buoyant presence online and in person, and a bundle of congenial sincerity.

We need our Beer Guy healthy and happy, with all the enthusiasm and goodwill you generate coast to coast. All your fans feel better now that the prognosis is so positive. Let's boat!

Today the gas bubble disappeared, and a fair bit of visual acuity returned - still sort of like looking though smudged glasses, but a WHOLE lot better than being blind! Light at the end of the tunnel (literally)!

That's wonderful news !! Do they expect that your sight will continue to improve even before cateract surgery? Glad the Captain hat fits Patti so well so she can spell you at the helm !!
Have a ball at Bellingham. Sure wish we could be there and also do the Gulfs for a week, but with the Broughtons for 5 weeks already and L. Powell coming up we just can't do it all. Like you we're not retired yet. DARN.

Pat, that's great! I had lens implants at the time of cataract surgery about 4 years ago and went from wearing glasses since I was 5 years old (about an eon ago) with 20/400 or so vision in both eyes to 20/15 in both, and no glasses. What a revelation!

Hope you continue to improve and see many new boats and 5th wheels in your future!

So Pat, 10 days since an update... how's it going? Has the sight returned to normal or will I potentially be OK looking in one eye? :wink:
 
Pretty darn good today, thanks Roger! It got better each day over the last week, and I would say I have about 90% normal vision back in my right eye. Fairly amazing actually.
 
I (and I am sure many other C-Brats) are thrilled to here that things are almost back to normal! Glad to hear you're doing well. Ya' know what you should do to celebrate? Schedule a time with me to go out to Neah Bay next year and slay some salmon. I'm already thinking about next year's trip.

Pat, that's great. My dad always told me I was blind in one eye and couldn't hear out of the other so it's good to know there's hope.

Maybe I missed it in this thread, and I think I kind of asked early on, but I am still wondering how in the world this happened to your eye in the first place? A blood vessel just busted and ripped the retina, or what?
