It's over for another year, for us anyway. Huda Thunkit it resting peacefully under wraps, waiting for May! Man that sounds distant.
I still have a week before returning to work but my entire cruising area is under small craft advisory at the moment.
It ended up to be a great season, not as much rain as last year, more fish, longer trips etc.

I guess it's off to the cave as I take after that perpetual list of mods and improvements. At the end of this our second year, I do see that list shortening some. I always enjoy proving up that years gizmos and dreaming up new ones. With almost 8 months of dormancy, a lot of dreaming will take place.

Hope each of you had or are having a great year as well.

Yes, it was an amazing year for us tool. We had better weather and better fishing this year than any before. We also learned how to catch shrimp in PWS. It was an amazing ending for out time with our C-Dory.

After 14 years this was the last for us and the Shadetree. She is pretty well wrapped up for the winter and up for sale. Our boating next year will be in a 27ft diesel powered aluminum Glacier Craft which will be built this winter.

I just checked out their website. Nice boats, perfect for Alaska cruising & fishing!

We bought our boat in spring 2004 from the Alaska C-Dory dealer. It arrived late, and we actually took possession of it in late July. He did not carry the electronics that I wanted, so I took it to the Glacier Craft shop to buy and have them do the installation (Furuno). We parked it in their yard and waited. And waited. Mid-summer and they were swamped, and could never quite get around to working on our boat.

My solution - and I am quite proud of this - I bought a 12-pack of Moosehead beer after work, and around 5:30 pm, I climbed into the back of my boat with a lawn chair and the 12-pack. Pretty soon the shop guys came over to talk, I offer a beer or two, and they begin to tinker with the electronics. About 3 nights of this and all our electronics are in and working nicely.

And some wonder why I ordered the Norcold fridge option . . .

Alasgun has layed it out pretty well. Living in Alaska is just great except that the boating season is too short. My boat is still ready to go in Ninilchik but as he said the small craft warnings do not make a good boating day. I am going for next weekend in Homer and then the boat is going into its winter bag. I just hate that day.....really depressing. Too long until spring time.

I try to get uncovered my mid-April but it is still pretty cold on the water. During the winter, wiinter king fishing in Homer is a possibility IF the weather cooperates. Several years ago I had to push snow with my bumper going to Homer for the derby. It was actually cancelled that day until the next. My CD (or my wife)does not like it when the waves are crashing over the Homer spit on the way to the launch.

We also had a good summer, no boat problems (minor ones only), no one got wet or hurt so it was good. Plenty of fish in the freezer. We are looking forward to next year and going through the marine catalogs and internet sites.

Fishbob- I can see the big billboard now. You sitting on the lawnchair in the cockpit and the guys installing the electronics and three foot letters proclaiming "MOOSEHEAD-When all else fails!"
