Air Conditioning on a C-Dory 22

Blue Echo

New member
Hello,

Does anyone have experience installing a seawater AC system into a 22?

I just purchased a new C-Dory 22, "Blue Echo." I will be using the boat on the Texas Gulf Coast, so AC is a very "nice to have" feature. I thought I'd use a Honda portable generator for power (shore power when docked). The twin 40HP outboards have pretty small alternators, so I need more Amps to run the AC while underway. My plan was to install the unit under/in one of the lockers. Anybody have any words of wisdom?

Thanks,
David Myers

The EU-2000 works good for me but we don't need the air conditioner where we are.

Question for you --- do you have a good CO detector on the boat?
It could keep you from "waking up dead"

Stay cool and alive

David, I assume you mean to put the A/C unit in the locker and not the generator. I installed A/C in my 25 this spring and the first critical choice is the sizing. My dealer had a 9000 BTU installed in a 25 and said it was marginal. I put in a 12000 and found it to be just right, as it runs constantly in the warmest conditions, and the fan speeds adjust automatically when it cools down. I put the 6" main vent in the hanging locker, and a 4" round in the v-berth. Let me know if I can answer any particulars.
