My brother surprised me by driving about 12 hours to help celebrate my 40th birthday this week. He wanted to go see Astoria so we hopped into my truck and headed to the coast. When we got there I picked up a tide book thinking it would be cool to take him beach combing and what do you know... the first of a series of low tides. Now I felt like a fool because I am wearing my new dress pants from the party, Have no waders or boots and my clamming equipment is all the way back inland. What to do?
I called my old buddy Tyboo and asked is he could loan me a clam gun. Not only did he loan me a clam gun, he took time to wrangle them from their sacred spot as they were on their way out the door to go have dinner out of town. He left them in a spot for me to pick up and use.
Well use them we did and My brother got into his first limit of Razor clams. We had a blast. We got there just a bit late and the tide turned on us and chased us up the beach. We were 5 clams shy of 2 limits. Not at all bad for dumb luck.
Thanks Mike and Kay. We couldn't have done it without you. :teeth
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
