A simple opinion

I don't think our 2008 has an embroidered logo and I certainly wouldn't want to pay for one. I've never really noticed a problem with the comfort of the helm seat, but I don't normally sit in it for more than a few hours at a time, and even then I move around and switch drivers occasionally.

I've already replaced the seats in my 06 19. The foam sucked. The v-berth is no better and is next to go. Quality is my first consideration. Good to hear from you.

Jeff, our 2001 22' C-dory did not have a logo on the seats which is no big deal. It would be nice to have a little better support in the foam for longer trips. I agree with others that it's nice to have some communication from the factory. Good luck with the boats you are building and I will see you at the SBS.

Hi Jeff, thanks for asking! Not having seen many C-dory's prior to buying one I never knew they had embroidered seats. Nice touch but not a deal maker. I have a Fluid Marine '09 19 angler and the seats are very nice. The logo on the house side is a nice quaility and works for me. I'm very happy with the boat and am glad to see you on the site with interest in keeping a strong brand.

I'm glad to hear your team is taking a slow stance on the learning curve.

Jeff,

Like most of the other respondents, I was not aware of any logo on the seats of a C-dory boat.

My recommendation would be to not "sweat the small stuff" and strive to make the seats more comfortable.

Save the fancy embroidery for hats and other brand name apparel which might bring extra $$$.

Thanks for asking and the best of luck with your new line of great boats.

Mine did not come with embroidered "C-Dory" seats, but after seeing the ones produced years after mine, I can tell you it's pretty much the first thing I see when I walk into a cabin. A VERY nice touch of class and pride.

Jeff,

Thanks for including us brats in your decision making. My C-Dory is an unusual model and came with a plain bright blue
helmsman seat along with a blue bench seat on the port side.
It now has two bright blue seats both with the C-Dory logo and looks pretty darn classy if I say so myself. Those were seats that were made for the 25' C-Dory.
But.............if I did not have them I would still love my boat just as much.

Go with a quality seat and no logo to keep the costs down.

I do like the idea of the C-Dory logo lazer cut in the wooden wheel center.

Best of luck in taking on the C-Dory brand and do your best to make it a 1st class product.

Jeff,
You coming on to ask for opinions says it all. Ranger certainly has made it pay to have their company man read, respond and post on the Ranger site. In fact he is the top poster. I know it sells a lot of boats for them.

When I bought my 2000 22 ft. cruiser from Mark Toland. He said the C-dory was like a jeep. A go anywhere, do anything type boat. I like that analogy. I did that very thing for 6 years. It went to the Bahamas a couple times and allowed the tide to go out for a peaceful nights sleep, setting on the sand bar. It was on a mooring off the surf line in Mexico for two winters. When the mooring broke the Hunky Dory came ashore riding a huge surf and parked itself on the beach with no harm done. ( picture in my album.) The logo on the seats would not have improved the use of that boat in anyway. Now I have to admit, I have changed seats and mattresses on all boats that I have owned.( Campers too ) Guess that is what is important for me and my other half.

You guys just might save a wonderful boat that I miss owning. Beauty is only skin deep. Ugly goes all the way to the bone. The C-Dory is a beauty without all the frills. :thup
Lipstick on a pig is the opposite side of the coin. I have owned a couple of those too. :thdown

If the cost and time is measurable you could always offer it as an option and pass the cost to the potential customer.

I personally think it's a nice touch and should be standard on a niche boat such as C-Dory.

Jeff... Thanks for asking. Hope to meet you soon. Going along with the crowd her... the quality of the foam is of much more importance than the logo....and carry that quality foam forward into the V-Berth as many of us really do cruise and use the V-Berths....

Thanks.

It's nice to be asked!

I'm pleased not to have the logo on the upholstery. However, I would have liked, as so many others have said, more comfortable seats. And especially, I would love a helm seat that folds completely forward to create extra counter space for the galley.

How about wood helm hubs, there is a supplier near Anacortes. Many of us have upgraded from the plastic one. You could stamp a logo on that.

I am currently the worlds premier craftsman and supplier of wood custom turned helm hubs for C-Dorys. I won't be able to compete with China in pricing out a turned hub with a laser engraved C-Dory logo. So I will just keep on supplying Teak and other hardwood turned hubs for our boats. Other boats use the same helm, maybe I could go industry wide. Offices on the east coast. World wide distribution centers. TV infromercials in the middle of the night....

POSSIBLE INFROMERCIAL AD COPY (your surfing the channels, it's 2:30 am.........and you hear

C-Dory Helm Hubs, now at the low price of $14.98, (plus S&H) made from genuine teak to match your boats other interior trim, and oiled to perfection. Only available at this extremely attractive price in the next 15 minutes, call now, operators are standing by to take your orders. (this ad will only be run on 17 other stations over the next 6 months). BUT WAIT, there's more.. order now and we'll send you two genuine C-Dory helm Hubs. Only pay extra shipping of $14.98 plus handling. And if you order in the next 15 minutes we will include an inflatable dummy to use in Man Over Board Drills. Or use it to commute in the HOV lanes. This is a limited offer and not available in stores. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery..

I do like the idea of the C-Dory logo lazer cut in the wooden wheel center.

I suppose I could purchase a laser engraver........Naaaaa

David,

Did you originally sell the RonCo items we all cherished receiving from relatives at Christmas? (...my favorite was always the hotdog cooker; passed it around to other relatives for about 15 years!).

Seriously, is that how you acquired the funds to buy Guemes Isl (sp?) and start-up a brewery? Very cool.

Actually, I've been thinking of offering you a special commission for our newish CC23 "Katmai" helm-piece.

Best,
Casey
The Villages, FL
PS: Sandy still talks occasionally about meeting you while we were at Myers Chuck in '06. The problem is, I don't know if she most liked the boat, or You!

...back to the business of stitchery stuff.

My boat is black w/ charcoal tweed upholstery. The logo on the seats is LAVENDER :? ...yes, LAVENDER.  Don't know who was in charge of THAT brilliant decision, but I would've preferred none.

To me, havind the logo is not a big benefit/detail and if the time, ergo money, could go somewhere else or to something else, I'd consider that a wise business decision. JMO.

Glad to hear you're actively building boats. I wish you nothing but success...

Jeff,

Thanks for asking. I hope you knew how much the C-Brats enjoy voicing their opinion.

As for mine, the seat on our 2005 22' Cruiser didn't have a logo. I have seen the logo on other C-Dory's and think it looks pretty sharp. But I agree with the many who said that the logo didn't have a major influence on their decision to buy.

Do whatever's the best and most cost-effective without scrimping on quality. That's what is most important to me. That the quality and the character of the boat remains intact.

Well, thanks for weighing in. It sounds like the consensus is that seat comfort and quality is the only real concern. Sounds like we made the right decision so far and we will continue in the no logo mode. I enjoyed the comments....especially the one about a logo never making a boat run better. Well said.
