A New (to me) Tow Vehicle for the "Stanley-J"

Stanley-J

Well The Stanley-J (formerly Plan-"B") will be happy, we just bought her a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 turbo diesel with only 18000 miles. Would you believe 600lbs of torque at 1900rpm. We can't wait till spring to hook her up and head out so were in the planing stages of making a run to visit some boating friends in Fort Pierce, & Sarasota,Fla.
Does anyone have any suggestions on some nice places to visit as we drive down and back that we can launch and spend a day or so on the water?
As a former Marine, I would like to see Paris Island SC.(as a non-recruit) from the water. Any suggestions? My wife and I are thinking of making it a 3 week round trip from our home in Highland, NY to Florida. On the way back were also thinking about leaving the boat at our Daughters in Saint Michaels, Md. till early April so I don't have to re-winterize the systems again.

Would highly recommend Hilton Head - plenty of ICW to cruise and a good inlet to the Atlantic - If you arrive there and the weather is bad they have a million first class places to dine.

Be careful about leaving your boat in MD not winterized - up to April you can still get a hard freeze.

Enjoy your trip and if you have the time send us some "post" as you make the trip.

Chuck, you are going to love that new truck, this is my 3 rd Cummins and they only problem I had with all of them was on the first one had a standard 5 gears tranny , some thing went wrong on it. The dealer put a new tranny under warranty.
My 2001 auto had the clockspring in the center of the steering wheel that controls the radio, cruise, changed. My 2004 6 speed with 30,000 on it is flawlees. At 1950 RPM 65 mph it averages between 19 and 21 mpg on computer consol. Not bad for a 6 wheel 7300 pounds truck.SEARAM

Congrats on your new truck. Have spent a week up here with one of your C-Dory NY owners "Terry" and had a blast!!

On the power issue/subject, I have had the opportunity to drive one of the new VW bugs with the turbo diesel and 5 speed manual. The torgue was awesome in this set up.... basically just stick her in 3rd and crews about town without the usual up and down shifting of normal fuel efficient set ups with gas motors. This thing was a real neat ride.....

Hummmmm wonder if it will tow a 18 Angler??
