hello all
A lot of you know my wife Lisbeth . what you don't know is that for the last 5 years she has been writing a book based on the interaction of the colonists and the local natives. it takes place in the 1650 + era. the second generation of the first colonists.
It is now available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble
it is called PRAYING TOWN by L. Gawenase Johnson

Roger, I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you or your wife Lisbeth, but have read most all your post.

I just ordered her book & am looking forward to its arrival here. MAYFLOWER,' BY NATHANIEL PHILBRICK, to me was an exceptionally good read & clarification of the history of this time period, so hoping Lisbeth’s telling is a similar enjoyment to read even if written in a very different way.

Roger, Thanks for passing that to us. Looks interesting for a good winter read.

Good to have that local history.

Roger, tell "Gawenase" thank you! I am over half way thru the book. I had heard a little about King Phillip's War, but was not really versed about the "Praying Towns".

It is of particular interest because my direct ancestors settled in 1636 about 40 miles from where the book scenario takes place. I have always been very curious about what life was like and what challenges they faced. We have visited Plymouth Plantation and read a number of histories of the early colonies.

I'll have to go back thru some of the genealogy to see if any "relatives" got down that way....

Thanks!
