This is posted over on Wayneswords.com Some of the studies that were conducted by the University of Utah before they began to fill Lake Powell. For those that have been to the Defiance House Ruins there is a video towards the end that shows what it looked like then.

Jody-

Thanks for posting. What a flood of memories it brought back. Best job I ever had was as a new college grad working for an oil company -- they said, "You mapped part of that area for a thesis (now Canyonlands NP). Here's a jeep and two field assistants. All your field expenses are paid -- go map the geology of all of Glen Canyon before it is flooded by Lake Powell."

So off we went - for months prowling the jeep trails bulldozed for uranium exploration in the canyon, hiking and mapping the side canyons. Most beautiful place I have ever seen.

Thanks for posting the memories -- a delightful time viewing that most glorious canyon.

I loved it. What a great introduction, and after visiting the site twice, I want to go back again.

Now what we need is a video by Bill telling his tales and showing his slides.
