I've mentioned the Furled Sails podcast here in the past - one of my favorite iTunes FREE downloads. While Noel and Christy (the folks who do that podcast) haven't been offering many new podcasts for a year or so, there is a great deal of boating (with a sailing bias) info and interviews on their archived podcasts.
Their most recent podcast is an interview with Mark from the Managing the Waterway cruising guides. We have a couple of their guides and find them to be the most informative and easy to use (FL Keys and East Coast... sorry, nothing that I'm aware of for you west coast folks, yet). They just released a new book entitled "Get Onboard With E-Charting". Price $34.95

They also sell a DVD chart set, including all US NOAA and COE e-charts, both raster and vector, for $39.95. Certainly, you can download these for free, but it's handy to have them all together and easily available. And, if you've tried dealing with the NOAA download site, you know it can be persnickity (how's that for an old fart term?).
Well, they are offering an introductory deal: buy the DVD set and get the new E-charting book for free. I was going to buy the book anyway, so it was more like getting the DVD set for $5. Either way, it seems like a good deal to me.
Also, for those considering the Great Loop, in the podcast, they said their next cruising guide will be for the river portion from Chicago to Paducah, KY. It will be in the same mile-by-mile format as their other guides.
So, not an infomercial, just a heads up. Also in the podcast, Mark said that they recently bought a C-Dory 22.
Best wishes,
Jim B.
