A Bit of Bragging for Jon Cornforth

amazing pictures. I just fell bad aboout every picture I have every posted. the underwater work is amazing. the sunlight behind the sockeye is beyond my words.

Well, there are 2 types of photographers: point and shoot, and those who make great pics. The more you learn in the point n' shoot class, the more you appreciate great pics. Takes a talented eye and lots of practice. Obviously Jon has a wonderful talent.

His camera has a 21 megapixel capability. The comment does nothing to detract from his pictures, but makes our 5 mbpix seem paltry.

I know many professional photographers up here in Alaska and Jon produces, hands down, the best work I've ever seen. He works extremely hard at it and spends a great deal of time away from home and family. He confidently takes his CD22 out for weeks at a time, in weather most of us would shy from.

Yes,. Jon is a very talented professional with the best equipment and the outcome is beautiful and a joy to view, but it sure doesn't make me feel bad about any photos I have posted nor do I think the many who do choose like us to post photos need to be concerned at all about measuring up to this kind of combined equipment and talent. Tom, I have enjoyed viewing your album many times and its provided more enjoyment to me then the professional photos of Jon's and that sure isn't a put down to Jon's great work. To me its just a apples and oranges thing and our album photos and his professional photos are just that in comparison. Maybe a professional can, but for me and I believe most others to fully enjoy the experiences like cruises and gatherings we share here in our albums a happy medium must be struck between the process and time devoted to capturing images for self and sharing with others and the pleasure of the experience.

I hope I didn't set off a camera type/brand or skill set holy war.

My intent was to just give kudos to Jon, a talented and dedicated photographer.

Being a photographer wannabe, I have enjoyed his work both in print, and in the digital media.

Wonderful photos. Those take more than a "good" camera, or even "good" tallent. There is study, training, practice (experience) and patience and patience and patience and planing and patience and ........... Nice work, a craftsman in light.

Thanks for sharing Steve.

The cameras , skill, and talent that are involed to produce are such fine work is beyond me at this time. I truely enjoy going thru Jon's web site today. I have been fooling around with photography for years. I just have never had the combination of time, money, freedom and dedication to make it my first focus in life. I understand what it takes to produce such fine work and its a lot more then money for gear. every photo avalable for purchace is the tip of a iceberg made of thousands and thousands of photos that just did not work out. I truely enjoyed being able to go thru jons work. :thup
