I recently bought a 1982 22' Angler that is showing some signs of solar exposure. The rubber around some of the windows needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can find replacement rubber? I've been searching the internet with no luck. I'm hoping somone else has found a solution to this problem.

browndog – welcome to the C-Brats. Contact C-Dory Marine first. They should be able to tell you where to get the rubber, if they don’t have it. If you tell us where you are, someone here may know where to direct you in your area.

If your windows leak (bummer) you'll have to replace the seals. I'm not sure where those can be purchased. If the seals just look crummy, you can clean them up with acetone. I've seen some really awfull vinyl seals clean up like new with acetone. Just be sure to wear gloves and a mask, and work in a well ventilated area. Hope this helps.

I recieved a sample from american marine just before leaving on this trip of the material that appeared closest to the original stuff on my 84. It is a bit thinner but looks like it will work. I'm kinda far from the boat right now (Germany vs Tacoma) but will give it a try when I get home in a couple of days. I will post the part number and picture of it when I determine if it is indeed the right stuff.

Why we are on a trend about the windows of the earlier 80's C-Dory's, I have a question? Has anybody found a replacement center window that opens?
While I was up at Y-Landing Marina, I compared the dimensions of the centre window of the new C-Dory's against my 1983 C-Dory. It wasn't even close. I called C-Dory a couple of years ago. No help. I called SaeGlaze who makes C-Dory windows. No help. I know I can have it custom made, but at a custom price.

I emailed the factory and they got back to me about a month later with news that the center opening window would set me back about $508. And it only comes in white which won't go well with my aluminum windows. I'm thinking about acquiring some Lexan, a stainless piano-style hinge, some good gasket material, and a couple of adjustable stays and doing it myself. It requires some thought but isn't brain surgery.

This is admittedly a long-shot, maybe, but you might look over the Bomar or similar hatches for one that was sufficiently flat, clear, and the right size to be able to fit the opening.
They're not cheap, but certainly less than some of the alternatives you're forced to consider!

in 1984 so I'm certain whether the window size is the same as it is
today. The best thing to do would be to send me a template of the
opening and we can make a new window based on that.

I never took the window apart to make the template as I was afraid it might be a destructive process. I understand the size of the opening and the radius of the corners are the important parameters. I didn't pursue it far enough to get a quote. Maybe if we got a batch order we could get a volume discount. I suspect there are a few old Classics that could use one. This topic has come up before. I have a 1990 22' Cruiser with gasket shrinkage in the corners of several windows. In the previous topic American Marine Products in Pompano Beach FL, www.americanmarine.com was the source and the "apparent" part number is TP240. I haven't looked further into it because I have no leaks and I tried removing the window in the door with no luck. I'm looking for advise as to how to remove these windows without damage to the frames. Haven't had much feedback. I did replace my front center window, which came out easy, with a new window that opens. I purchased the window from C-Dory so it has a white frame and not aluminum like the original. The new window is not exactly the same size. The corners on the new window are more round. I was able to center the window so it is sealed and looks right from the outside but has slight gaps in the corners on the inside. The fresh air feels good on those hot days.
If anyone knows how to remove these windows without frame damage let me know. Maybe I'll just try window by window where the front window came out so easy. The window in the door won't budge.
