2nd bilge discharge location?

I recently aquired a 2002 Cruiser and I'm going to istall a 2nd bilge pump this weekend. I'm placing it in the aft center next to the transom where there is a slight depression associated with the drain plug. I'm looking for recomendations on where to locate the bilge discharge hole in the bulkhead. I don't want to drill a hole in the wrong place. My first thought was to put it at the same distance off the water as the cabin bilge but because the boat rides deeper in the aft I wasn't sure if that would be an appropriate location. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I put mine out the port side a little below the rub rail - my port side lazarette is also set up as a fish box and drains near there.

A few inches or so below the rub rail is fine, as is a location inside the motor well.

Avoid putting it much too high, as the pump has to work harder in proportion to the height of the lift to the exit port , which decreases the output. However, a few inches difference might be hard to measure in terms of output.

I'd also put it in a location I could see from where it will be switched on and off, if it's not an automatic pump. If the switch is at the helm, no point setting it up so you have to walk back to see if you nbeed to shut it off.

Instead put it where you can see the output out the window by placing it on the starboard rear quarter.

Joe.
