27' C-Dory Bow Picker; $14k

Jack-

Nice find!

If I remember correctly, according to the "History" posed on the old Toland C-Dory website, that's the one and only bow picker ever made by C-Dory!

(The bow picker is designed to set out and then pick up fishing nets from the bow, rather than the traditional operation from the stern.)

Joe. :teeth :thup

Joe,

Dave in bow picker land here: bow pickers predated stern reel boats by many decades ... and there are still a few around, although I wonder if there are any of the original "Columbia River bow picker" design still working.

Link to text and a shot of Kent Martin pulling web on one, off Skamokawa, WA, looks like: http://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/entry ... owpickers/

Anyone interested in the history of the old timers might enjoy this classic little video: Bergeron, Jim. “Work is our Joy: The Story of the Columbia River Gillnetter.” Documentary film, 1989, 32 minutes.

Love the lines of those old boats.

And unless it has completely fallen apart since two years ago when I last saw it, it's in great shape. Somebody is getting a great deal on a nice boat.
