26' ProAngler C-Dory

I like the walk around deck and the cockpit steering option but not much else. The oversize beam may make trailering more difficult. I can't remember the maximum width allowed for our roads.

Looks like a standard trailer in the pictures so I dont see a towing problem at all. Wa allows 8'6" with out a permit but they are easy to get and are good for a year.

Looks like a great day fishing boat. Would be great for off shore out of west port. Not mush room to over night with the small cabin.

if you look at the pictures you will see that there are only two windows in the front. that cabin is not the regular width. that,s how they got the walk around. Not by making the boat wider.
 
An outboard bracket and newer 4 stroke would make it a really appealing fishing platform. At 50k, too rich for my blood anyway
 
I have one of the ProAnglers after 26 yrs with a 22' Classic. So far I love the boat. A little more gas thirsty but 500% safer for me tending to dispatching and retrieving the anchor which we do often (3 times yesterday) in 150' of water. I pull it with the boat/buoy system and recover it by hand.
I "deep sixed" the Kenyon stove and use a Mr.Heater for cabin heat. No cooking facilities as it is not a restaurant. Sack lunches. Works excellent for day trips.

The PA cabin is the same width as the 22' but about 2' longer than an Angler.
Not much room for over nighting. It is a day fishing boat with a berth to have a snooze. Porta potti same place as the 22'. Room for 5 to ride in the cabin.
Mine has the outboard bracket with both engines (200 & 9.9) on it. This gives the rear deck area much more room for fishing etc.

The boat handles well in rough seas but it is a 12 degree bottom with most deep V's being 17 degree. More degrees less fuel mileage, better rough water handling.
THe one for sale has an inboard. Not a plus for me.

Bought mine in Fla. repossesd for $40.5k in 2009 with 135 hrs. on it. Virtually a new boat at the time.

I was curious to know what happens to the molds from older models. Are they stored away or destroyed?
 
Many times molds are left out in the weather. Unfortunately this is very hard on them--get debris, algae growing in them, dings--etc. Although an older mold can be restored, it can be a painstaking procedure. Also at some point molds do have to be replaced. There are heat stresses as the boat's are laid up and cure. This is why most molds have strong backs or pipes in the outer surface. The inner waxed surface is what gives the nice shiny and fair lines of the boats as they are produced.

As I recollect, there is or was some arrangement with the current producers of the C Dory for a royalty for each hull. The molds for the Tom Cat 30, Chilkat (Black Feather Marine) are for sale today on "Boats and Harbors"

Somewhere in the past, I remember someone seeing the 26/27 molds sitting in a field?
 
If this boat is a 1992 it has definitely been repowered. The Volvo in the picture is a few years old at best. I have the 4.3MPI in my Stingray and it is the quietest, smoothest shifting boat I have ever owned.

I love the walkaround - but it does shrink the cabin on a trailerable size boat.
 
I am 100% sure that is a charter boat in Seward. While it is well taken care of, I don't see 50k being in the ballpark for that old thing even up here.
 
The mate to that boat in Seward was purchased approx. 12 yrs. ago by a friend of mine here in Ninilchik. It is an outboard model but otherwise the same boat. It has been used long and hard as a charter boat. Pictures of it are in my album.
It may be for sale soon also as the owner has some medical problems. He no longer charters but occasionally uses the boat for pleasure.
 
The one on Seward has too. I have a hard time with 50,000 for that boat given the age and hours. I wish them luck. Jack, your boat is awesome!
