25’ cruiser for rent/ sea trial?

Hey all,

My father in law is really interested in purchasing a 25’ cruiser but would like to test drive one first. He found one in Desolation Sound but it’s pretty far north. I am wondering if anyone knows of a 25 cruiser for rent for a weekend in Anacortes- Seattle? This would allow us to cruise with him on our boat. He is former coast guard and has many many years experience on a boat so it would be in good hands. I want him to get the c-dory experience without having to fo so far or spend so much just to get a taste. Let me know if you have any suggestions? I would appreciate it.
 
I know of only two places that rent the 25 for charter. Desolation Sound Yacht Charters has had theirs listed for a number years. More recently Wefings Marine has started renting one in Apalachicola FL. You could make a vacation out of it, fly in for the better weather this time of year and cruise in Florida for a couple of days!
 
Thanks for the shout out , but due to lack of demand we dont have a Trailerable Trawler in our rental fleet anymore . Just skiffs and center console bay boats and a [cringe] pontoon boat.

Desolation Sound is based in Comox which has lots of daily flights available from Vancouver, BC if he can jump on a flight and get up there. It would be worth really test cruising the boat in the spring, as their rental rates are lower than in the summer and the USD is still stronger than the Canadian so you save 20%.
 
Ask on the site to see if any current 25 owners would take him for a short test run with a bit of time behind the wheel instead of a rental or borrow situation that makes most owners pretty nervous. That may be enough to get a feel for it and make a decision toward or away from the 25. There are some local brats who keep them in the water and might be willing to take him for a spin for a beer. People have done more for less.
