22’ Cruiser Air Draft

Howdy C-Brats. I’ve purchased a 2016 C-Dory 22’ Cruiser. I’ll pick the boat up on Feb 6th. I’m looking at dry stack storage options but am not sure of the height clearance for a 22. The roof has nothing mounted on top.

I’ve searched the site for an answer but no luck so far.

Anyone have a quick answer?

Thanks!

Mine is cross country...but I had to get a top shelf for mine at first but then as ski boats with high tower/arches and blearing sound systems became more common, the racks were adjusted in one of our local faculties. Our radar and AC systems add about 18". Sorry I can find my numbers... Good luck...

What you are looking for is the distance from the extreme bottom of the C Dory to the highest part of top of the cabin roof. Not what the boat is on the trailer.

You want the clearance for a storage rack. The headroom in a standard 22 is listed as 6' 2" . Having owned several. and shrunk with age and water, I think that is fairly close. Add in 2" for hull thickness below and 2" above, that would give you a minimum of 6'6". But the attitude of the boat aft may be deeper..the fork lift needs at least 8" clearance below the hull, and I sure would want a foot above the hull. So if I was spacing racks, I would want at least 8 1/2 feet to prevent scraping the cabin top and give clearance to work.

Probably between 7-8'. Midnight flyer on the water with a radome on the roof was just under 7' That was with a high top roof as well.

I just went out and measured my 2003 22 cruiser. Top of cabin to keel is 6'-8". I measured right above the side windows towards the front of the cabin. Keep in mind that is the bare roof, and it is the standard roof, NOT the high top.

Thanks all for this information.

Bob - I found this 2016 model and should be at Hontoon. We are staying in our RV at the KOA and will keep the boat there. Look forward to joining in.
