A one pound box of squid from the store there will last a few guys the whole week. And this time I learned to use scissors to cut the little strips. WAY easier than messing with a knife...-Jeff

I agree with Jeff- I buy the food grade squid at the grocery store- it's better and cheaper than the bait grade from the bait shop.

Jimmy,

Ron on Islander checking in. I just made my reservations at Two harbors. FWIW you can also make reservations online for the string line. I was just at Catalina and the reservation system made things very easy. When we got to TH the harbor patrol just assigned us our can and we were good to go! No stopping and doing the transaction with the Harbor Patrol. Now having said that the reservation system is new this year, and I did notice some "bugs" in the system. But it worked for us.

Islander will bring ice cream if that is OK? If you need something else, let me know.

Do each of us need to make reservations or is the group as a whole making the reservations? What is the URL for making reservations? I don't understand.
Jon

We'll bring cheese and crackers, chips and salsa for the group. Is the count right at 16 people?

We are looking forward to this trip! See all of you in a couple of weeks.

Well because the headcount is becoming serious I think I'll throw in my situation. I'll either be coming with a total headcount of 6 (4 adults, 1 child, 1 toddler), 5 (3 adults, 1 child, 1 toddler), 2 (2 adults), or 1 (me).

My daughter's move into their FIRST house was delayed a week, so the lion's share of the move will occur that w/e of Aug 13-14, meaning her chance of going is slim. However, my niece and family are open but not decided yet, most likely yes, so that is the 3 adults scenerio.
I will let the group know when firmed up.

I still plan on diving.

And Jeff, I too appreciate your details on the fishing, thanks.

I'd like to join you all. Been a stressfull summer. Could use some island time with friends.

Jim and Kathy... is it too late to add me in? If not, I'll mail my check tomorrow (8/2). Please email me your address again. If too late, then I'll make my own accomodations even if I anchor.

Be well,
Keith

Keith, just show up. No need for any check. Each will make their own reservations on arrival. I will not be using the on-line system because I want to try to get everyone together on the string line when we arrive on Monday morning. Keith we will be at MDR Sunday night and will have a group dinner that evening.

Sincerely,

Jim

Here is a quick update of who is coming now and what they are bringing.

1. Jim and Kath, Pounder, Meat
2. John and Robbin, Dinner Belle II
3. Ron and Bill, Islander, Ice Cream
4. Kent and Marcia, Marcia Jane, Cheese/Crackers and Chips/Salsa
5. Jon, Gypsy River, Potatoe Salad and Fruit
6. Russell and Theresa, Whale Watcher, Corn Salad
7. Steve and Company, Dora-Jean
8. David and Donald, Blue-Eagle
9. Keth, C-Pup.

We still have nine (9) boats and about 18 people.

We could still use maybe a lettuce salad and dressing, garlic bread, and corn on cobb with aluminum foil. We will bring some of these if no one else does, and Robbin will bring something also.

We wanted to get everyone on the string line together on the side away from the swimming area and that is why I was going to just going to have everyone get their spot on arrival Monday morning. It has never been any problem arriving on Mondays getting what we want.

Sincerely,

Jim

Dear All-

Spent yesterday at Pacific Trailer in Newark getting our equipment fixed. Boy, these C-Dory's are trailer intensive. Anyway, we are now all set for the journey South, our 10th one!

This will be our last post before the event. All are welcome to join us for dinner Sunday night in Marina Del Rey. We will probably take the harbor shuttle boat to a nearby resturant. Will leave for dinner about 6 PM or so, depending when everyone gets settled and ready.

My cell numer is (916) 799-0286 if any questions or want to coordinate. Looking forward to seening everyone.

Sincerely,

Jim and Kath

I'm here (early I know) but the parking attendant does not know how I should pay for a weeks parking. I know though that "help is on the way".
Jon :teeth :teeth :teeth

You buy parking tickets for each day. Count the number of days you will have your truck and trailer in the parking lot at MDR. Then buy that many tickets that cover both the truck and trailer for each day.

Sincerely,

Jim

Scotch tape your paid parking tickets to your windshield (inside). Make sure you taped the correct side so it reads through the glass. No use being ticketed by the parking enforcement because your paper parking tickets for 7 days curled up in the sun and were not visible.

Welcome back home Brats!

Marcia and I have both been sick this week. First me and then, like clockwork Marcia with a stomach flu or ? It was painful not to go on the Catalina trip since we had not missed it for the last three years.

Hopefully, you had a great week! Two Harbors is one of our very favorite places and I hope we'll be able to get there this year before the weather changes.

All of you need to know of a reported run of Yellowfin Tuna and White Sea Bass around the Dana Point area. Some folks say that they have not seen anything like this for years!!! They seem to be located under the schools of Dolphin in the channel and ARE biting. According to the reports, the bigger (legal) White Sea Bass are below the undersized fish and hard to get to.

I'll bet Steve has to get back to work. THESE ARE REAL FISH Steve!

Jim, we'll look forward to our next adventure and we all THANK YOU for your leadership and organizational ability!

We're looking forward to our next Cruise!

Regards,

Kent and Marcia
