Hi every one. After looking for a while I found a nice c dory. Took her out for the first time today. The boat just wants to get on step. It was a lot of fun. I was surprised how responsive it is. I did notice if you are doing 20 miles an hour and make a tight turn she will slide, my wife was not impressed but I thought is was fun. Cant wait till this next weekend. Im going to try and install a heater in it this week.

Congrats on the new boat. And WOW!; You're on the water in late January in Alaska!?

We made the crossing from Whittier to Cordova this Summer, hit Baja tacos for lunch; wow. Crazy traffic in the harbor, day before an opener. Was able to snag a slip in front of the harber masters and rent a car delivered to us at Baja Tacos. Love the smell town atmosphere, just left the Rental car with the keys above the visor.
Noticed the harber only had one launch ramp, surprisingly little for that large of harbor.
Congratulations by the way on the new boat, heater is definitely a must.
So did your C-dory come with a trailer?
Cordova is one of those Alaskan ports were if your prepared venturing out in January is possible.
Anchorage on the other hand not so hospitable any time of year, that's why we launch in Whittier.

Thanks. I think we are going to have a lot of fun with her. I just finished with the espar type heater install. It's seems to work well. It makes my
Wallas 1800 feel like an air conditioner. Winter should not be an issue with this heater.

Welcome to CBRATS, the C-Dory family. It's a great place where you can meet super nice people and learn everything about C-Dory. Enjoy that boat and stay safe.

Is your VHF programmed with YOUR MMSI number?

Oh sorry, I should have asked if you remembered to put the antenna down in stead, I guess.

Don't forget to program that MMSI #

I recently installed a webasto heater in my CD-22, and really like it. Speaking of "sliding" in a tight turn. When I first sea-trialed my boat before buying it, I tried the same thing. Tight turn doing about 20 mph. Past V-hull boats simply leaned into the turn, while a past pontoon just kind of slipped around, but still stable. When I took that first turn in the C-dory, it scared the crap out of me. It started the turn, but then felt like it was beginning to list to the outside of the turn. The wrong thing was pulling power, at which time it did take a quick "roll" to the outside of the turn. (Not enuf to take on any water, but enuf that I have never taken a sharp high speed turn again.) Colby

Fun fun, cant wait till this weekend. Im going to go trolling for king salmon if the weather is decent. Where did you mount your heater? I put mine under the cook stove against the bulk head. ran the 4 inch duct out where the foot pump is for the sink. I will see how it works. For now it saves me from having to drill any more holes.

It's under my sink against the hull, with the vent on the front upper left corner of the cabinet, just behind the helm seat. Left the burner intake alone, ie, didn't run any outside air to it as I figure there are enuf areas for air to be drawn in. Same with the heater air intake. I did put some holes and louvered vents in the cabinet doors. Ran the exhaust out just above and forward of the sink drain port. Colby
