This is a very rare pristine boat. It is in its original factory condition and has never had so much as a screw hole drilled into the hull.
Except for some slight fabric fading, it looks like a new boat.
It comes with a fuel efficient 2002 Tohatsu 40-HP oil injected engine.
It has a full Sunbrella custom made cover.
A Performance galvanized trailer is included.
The boat has a new coat of bottom paint.
The Toland 18-8 was designed with positive level flotation...a great safety feature.

The following is from the original brochure of the Toland 18-8 Cruiser.

Foot note – some of you will notice that oldgrowth Dave posted this ad. Monty is the person you want to talk to, not me. I just helped with the ad and posted it for him. He was/is a member of this form but does not remember his logon information.[/b]

Wow,
That looks like a great buy for someone who wants a very economical and light weight cruiser. I have never seen one, but it sounds as if the interior is just a little smaller than the 22, still has a 6'2" bunk V berth, and dinette, with small galley.

My only concern would be the speed with the 40 hp.

We boat on Martin almost every weekend...and we've never seen this boat! She looks real nice. I'd be happy to take a look for any out of area buyers. Just shoot me a PM.

Hey Rick!! I miss Lake Martin....and the noodles too.

I have not seen this boat in the water. Did see in on the hard one day on a cleaning rack at Kowliga I believe the marina was. Have talked with Monty a time or two...but not in a couple of years. Yes, this is a very clean boat. It just needs a bit more time on the water...

Opps... phone wrang and got me.

Dave: Great to see you on again. Enjoyed our chat the other day.

Looking like mid-Jun for the NW visit. Will call.

Byrdman – I enjoyed our chat and am looking forward to visiting with you when you get up there. If you can, schedule a few days for a visit down here.

Dave

Monty is a good friend of mine and I sold him the Tohatsu years ago. He also worked for Wefings for a spell around the turn of the century. The Tohatsu runs the boat around 20 MPH . It is pristine and I always thought Monte would leave this boat for me in his will! It a very nice pocket cruiser!

Greg – the brochure somewhat shows the interior. The sink and stove are behind the helm seat. The photos of the lady show the co-pilots seat in the forward position and facing the table. You can also click HERE for the brochure. There is also another seat on the other side of the table that is not in the photo. The two seats on the port side make into a bed. I have some additional photos that Monty sent me and I will try to post them sometime tomorrow. A couple of the photos he sent are interior shots. If you think you may be interested in the boat call Monty. He instructed me to post a message that he is willing to drop the price to $19,750. I will be sending Bill a PM asking him to reduce the price on the listing to the $19,750.

Thanks Dave, I sent an email to Monty asking for the same things as my post. Yeah any photo's would be very helpful, I'm trying to decide if this boat is worth the day's trip from here (Louisville) to go see.
Dave, if you don't mind, how does this boat compare to the CD-22? From the small photos it looks like the same layout, but how could all that fit in 18'-8"?
Thanks,

Greg

Cockpit is much smaller , interior is a little smaller . If a C Dory is a compact , this is a subcompact . Gets the same job done in a little smaller space.............Hope that helps .
Marc

From the photo with Monty standing in the back, it looks like you step down into the cabin and the cockpit may be self-draining. Is that correct?

The brochure says 6'2" headroom, so unless Monty is almost 8 feet tall, there would have to be a step or two into the cabin. I guess there could be storage under the cockpit, like a sailboat also if that's the case.

The price of this boat has been reduced to $19,750.

I had a chance to meet Linda and Monty this past Saturday and look at the Toland 18-8.
First, thanks for the nice visit and hospitality, it made the trip worth the drive. In the end I found this boat did not fill my particular needs, but I think it’s a great little boat, in very good condition.

Leo Smith compared the Toland 19-8 to the CD-22 by saying if the 22 is a compact cruiser then the Toland is a sub-compact. I think this is an accurate comparison. The Toland does everything that the 22 does, just in a smaller package. This smaller package has some distinct advantages;

- Easy to single hand on the water
- Easy to trailer
- Uses the next size smaller motor series
- True 6 mpg
- Good fit and finish with tons of storage
- Park it at the dingy dock!
- Cute as a button

Anyway, if you are interested in this type of boat, you better hurry-up, I think Monty has just about talked himself out of selling it. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.

Monty asked that I post a message here.

He is taking his boat out of the water the end of this month (the 31st of July) and it will be in storage until next season. He will therefore take the boat off the market at that time. If anyone has any interest in the boat, contact him ASAP.
After the 31st it will be too late.

This boat has been sold.

I do not know if the purchaser is a member of this group but he did buy the boat because of this ad. If he is not a member, maybe he will join and let us know what he is doing with the boat.

I know he got a great little boat.
