Here is a locally produced boat that I remember seeing since I was a kid. It's sort of a wooden C-Dory with an I/O.

I remember that the first time I saw a C-Dory, at the '89 Portland Boat Show, I thought it must be made by Clippercraft.

The factory used to be (still is ?) on West Marine Drive in Portland and we drove by it all the time.

This one is for sale.

Here is a screen shot of the listing so it'll be retrievable after it goes away.

Wow, looks great. I love the wood, though it is probably a maintenance hog. $10K seems a good price for the boat. If I was a west coaster, I would be interested.

Pete-

Nice find!

Thought I'd make the photos a little larger for all to see:

After seeing so many C-Dorys, and getting used to them, the Clipper Craft looks like an out of proportion and awkward design(!)

Probably would look better, as a design, all painted the same color with some nice trim lines, etc. Unfortunately the wood only looks great up to 15 or so feet away!

For me, polishing fiberglass is work enough! No need to go back to a wooden boat, period!

Can't red the fine print? Try this:

1990 Clipper Craft 23’ cabin series Mark 6, dinette/locker. Powered with a Volvo Penta 151 four cylinder/Volvo 270 outdrive. Displacement is about 2800 lbs and top speed is about 40mph. Old aluminum fuel tanks have been replaced with a new Moeller 25 Gal fuel tank. Bilge has been completely refinished with CPES/Epoxy/Interlux bilge paint. Exterior water line has been refinished Epoxy/Pettit Copper Guard antifouling paint. Exterior hull needs to be recoated with antifouling paint (still in decent condition, was going to do it this summer). Cabin is in fair condition but could use paint this year. Strakes are finished with varnish and have only been sanded to wood twice. I have been through the entire bout and she is very sound with no rot. I am the second owner and boat only has 370 hrs on motor. You won’t find very many Clippers out there that are in this condition.

Trailer is a 1990 Shorelander with new axles and disc brake system, very good condition.

Boat has all required equipment including life vests, lines, downriggers, pole holders, 2 anchors, etc. Boat runs very good, just had it out in the Columbia. Loss of job forces sale, but very reluctantly. Clean paper on her and priced to sell, but firm (its worth it), serious only.

$9900.00

I'm not sure that the house isn't glass...I''ve seen some that had a black house that looked pretty good atop the wood lapstrake.

These can be very nice boat if they are in good condition, and have been kept covered. They can also be a maintenance nightmare due to rot if they have not been cared for.

If anyone is interested in one of the boats, be sure and have a good marine surveyor (skilled in wood boats) do a very thorough survey.
