17th Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza for 2019

Had a great time (as usual) on the trip. Sad to have had to leave early, but Pat was not feeling up to the long run to S.F.
When I got the truck from the storage lot in Rio Vista, the dash flashed and was reading "ATTEMPTED THEFT" --- check the truck and trailer, saw no damage. I let the Management know.
It was great meeting Harvey (Sleep-C), Paul and Al (No Limits), Conrad, Katie and Matti (Kanaloa) as well as seeing the rest of the group.

Thanks Mike. I will try, but I have some chores to do yet.

Wow, what a great trip. Really nice to get to meet everyone. Made it home last night. Had a much to brief visit with Sea Wold Joe in Redding, and then made it to the 7 Feathers Casino (MP99 in Southern Oregon) for the night. Left there at 07, did some errands in Portland OR, and was home with all the landing chores done by 2100.

Hey, I loved the boat ride. You all went all out to really provide me with the total experience. Thank you so much. Lots of new number one experiences.

Under the "Gate" has to top the list. Staying at a Duck Club, Rafting 3 wide and 4 long, Seeing the Wing boats up on one hull at 50? mph, launch and retrieve at a dog leg dock, drive onto my trailer, and ride up behind my truck. It was all so good.

Thanks again to each one for making is such a great trip. The tour guides, the photos, the help on the dock; You all are great.

It was amazing meeting you all. Sorry we couldn't stay for longer, but it sounds like you all had a blast in the central bay. We definitely packed them in tight at the duck club.

Thanks to everyone for coming on our 17th Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza. We are happy that all made the trip safely. Kath and I had another good time and we still look forward to our 18th event next year, health willing.

We had a fantastic group this year and we enjoyed everyone's company. John and Robbin did another amazing job hosting Wednesday’s over the top formal Wheeler Island Duck Club dinner.

Kath treated us to a nice bacon and egg breakfast on Thursday. Thanks to everyone for their pot luck contributions on Thursday night and Friday morning. The fresh Stripped Bass and Hamburger dinner on Thursday night turned out pretty good.

SEA3PO, Dora-Jean, Slack Time, C-Hawk, Blue Eagle, and Sea Spray – thank you all for your longstanding loyalty to this event. Susan on SEA3PO made a huge effort to attend this entire event given the recent serious health challenges she experienced.

We were also thrilled to have three new comers this year: No Limits, Sleepy-C, and Kanaloa.

I think we set some sort of record this year by having a true Millennial come visit us old folks at this event. Conrad with his wife Katie and daughter Madison showed up on the nicest C-Dory of the bunch, Kanaloa.

It was touching to have another relatively young guy, Paul show up on No Limits with his father Al. Finally, Harvey on Sleepy-C came all the way from Washington State. I think this is the first time someone from Washington State has come down.

Eight of the eleven boats made it to San Francisco from the Duck Club. The weather was beautiful in the City.

This year was different in that we stayed two days at the Duck Club and two days at San Francisco. We skipped Petaluma and Sausalito this year. Many enjoyed this new format.

John (Dinner Belle II) arranged for us to go guided fishing on Thursday. I was lucky to catch a 39-inch Sturgeon with great help from the guide, but we had to release it because it was one inch too short of the 40-inch slot limit.

We are appreciative to all who put in the time and energy to join us on this adventure. This is an event where everyone truly contributes.

I initiated this event when I was 53 years old and my boat was just four years old. I am now 70 years old and my boat is 21 years old. My 21-year-old engine has a carburetor with 700 hours. So, I do not know what will crap out first, me or my C-Cory.

We hope to see many of you and perhaps some other newbies next year at the same event!

Jim & Kath
